Positive: good location to walk and see the temples and shrines. Bus stop to Hongu is a 3 min. walk, great supermarket across the street. very kind staff, good breakfast.
Summary: It served as my base for three days to visit places and hike nearby.

Positive: Good location for bus to reach trail heads on the Kumano Kodo. Very helpful and friendly front desk staff.
Negative: The room was bit tired, but clean and quiet. Breakfast is very basic but also inexpensive.

Positive: The staff were very friendly on check-in, and there was a lot of English information printed in the room information and around the hotel. The room was a good size, and the bed was warm and comfortable.
Negative: The breakfast was just OK, but there wasn't much choice, it was more like a salad plate at lunch time. I couldn't find a knife either, so I was spreading jam with a spoon (that's on me for not asking though). The sink and bathtub in the room was a bit damaged, although it didn't affect the usage.
Summary: A little walk from Shingu station, but friendly and comfortable.
