Positive: We had a really enjoyable stay at Gritstone Cottage. The property is in a lovely location and made a great base for exploring the area. The cottage itself stayed wonderfully cool during the hot weather, which was such a bonus, and we enjoyed the evening walks through the countryside to the pub in the next village.
Negative: There were a couple of downsides worth mentioning. Although we were aware that the property allows pets, we did notice quite a few pet hairs around when we arrived, and after a couple of days the cottage developed a bit of a “doggy” smell, even upstairs. Also, the number of emails I received from Sykes prior to the stay felt a little excessive.

Positive: How close the property was to two very good pubs.
Negative: Unfortunately, nearby neighbours had a very noisy party that went on well into the early hours of the following day. Not the owners fault but made us think about hiring a more remote property next time.

Positive: The location of the cottage is very convenient for the Monsal Trail and towns such as Bakewell and Buxton. Ideal Peak District location. Very good pubs, serving excellent food within walking distance of the cottage. Cottage was comfortable with everything you’d need.
