Positive: A 5-star experience - exceeded all expectations. Every staff member went above and beyond to ensure our stay was exceptional. The food was gourmet! Multi-course beautifully prepared traditional Japanese dinners with printed daily menus were served by highly attentive staff in our room. Breakfasts were great too, served in a nearby dining room. The rooms were spacious and well appointed. There were lovely products in the bathroom. It was very peaceful and serene, and within easy walking distance of the train station and historical sites.

Negative: Nothing comes to mind. It was a little tricky getting to the town of Hagi itself, but well worth it to experience a part of Japan that is off the beaten path.

Summary: Five-star experience. Spacious rooms, gourmet Japanese cuisine, peaceful and relaxing.

Positive: Our family had an exceptional stay at Hagi No Yado Tomoe! The staff went out of their way to welcome us and we felt like family. The meals were superb, it was apparent that much thought and time went into the flavors and variety. It was a real treat. The hot springs were also so relaxing and we all slept really well!

Negative: We really liked everything!

Summary: I’m so thankful that we decided to go off the beaten path because our stay at Hagi was a highlight of our trip to Japan!

Positive: Beautiful ryokan in the lovely town of Hagi. The food was outstanding, the kaiseki dinners and the breakfasts are among the best we have experienced in our visits to Japan and the service was perfect, with everything done to enhance our experience, thank you. The rooms were beautiful and the gardens inside the ryokan were stunning.

Negative: Nothing, everything was superb.

Summary: One of the best places we have stayed on our visits to Japan, a top class ryokan experience.

Positive: We stayed 2 nights and had the Kaiseki dinner served in the room 1 evening. The hotel is a beautiful blend of a traditional inn with modern elements. It managed this across the property and in the excellent meals which had a touch of fusion. The staff were welcoming and attentive at all times.
