Relaxed and spacious, this air conditioned lake and mountain view home is steps from the beautiful Lake Koocanusa in the British Columbia Kootenay Mountains and only 40 minutes from the world class ski resorts of Fernie and Kimberly.
Nestled in the lakeside town of Wardner, the Cabbage is ideally located with direct access to the the famous Trans Canada mountain bike trail, a public boat launch with trailer parking, prime fishing and water sports on the Kootney River and Lake Koocanusa, skiing/snowboarding within a 40 minute radius, hiking, ATV /snowmobile trails, par 3 nine hole golf course (Jaffray, 10 min), and numerous local pubs and craft breweries in Jaffray, Fernie and Cranbrook.
The Cabbage comfortably sleeps 6 in private rooms in the main house, up to 8 if the beds in the walkout basement living room space (2x XL twin daybeds) and fold out XL twin in the loft are utilized (with host prior approval only). Even with a full house the Cabbage has ample room for living, dining, snuggling in front of the wood burning stove and games around the table.
The property includes a 4-6 person hot tub, interior wood burning stove, exterior wood burning fireplace on the vaulted covered deck, bbq, fire pit with benches, bicycle rack, ski and snowboard storage, giant wall mounted Connect 4, tabletop curling, PlayStation, two TVs with Apple TV boxes, loads of games, books, and driveway parking for up to 4 vehicles (with additional road parking available) plus separate boat or snowmobile / ATV parking.
Nearby is a large playground, basketball courts and an events field for baseball, soccer, football or any manner of activities. Walk through the town and down the trails to look at the historic burned out mill and other remnants of a town that once was to be the heart of CP rail activity.

Summary: Robyn is absolutely amazing! Had a little hiccup with a smoke alarm when we got there but Robyn got back to me with in 20 min and we were able to resolve it no problem! The house is absolutely amazing and the photos don’t do it justice. It’s a great size and would be perfect for any multi family get away! The lake is walking distance and we hauled our huge Costco floaty and paddle boards no problem and spent our days on the lake. The air conditioning in the house was a god send since it was about 36c the weekend we were there. My favourite was the outdoor fireplace on their deck that we could enjoy at night since there was a fire ban. We would absolutely stay here again and I can recommend it more! Thank you again so much Robyn! P.S. She has the best, most organize information binder of any VRBO I have stayed in the world! You won’t regret choosing to stay here!

Summary: My husband and I stayed at the cabbage (cabin/cottage) and could not believe how relaxing our stay was. The air here is just different. There’s this feeling that settles everything down and lets you take in life moment by moment instead of speeding through it. The view directly out the front is a mountain side. The view to your left is the lake. There are so many directions to stroll with a hot cup of coffee and we saw a lot of wild life and friendly neighbours. The loons sounded incredible from the lake too! Such a cool experience. The cabbage was really well equipped. There was not a single thing we needed but didn’t have and it’s not “cheap, just for renters” stuff either. The table was huge allowing us to play games and build a puzzle at one end and enjoy a BBQ’d steak meal at the other end. There’s plenty of seating, the beds were incredibly comfortable, and the hot tub was well maintained. We visited Cranbrook and Kimberly one of the days which was not a long drive at all. Robyn was awesome! She has everything you could possibly need to know written out and was available to answer our questions over text when we just weren’t sure. This Cabbage is so comfortable and well maintained and we cannot wait to return with our children next time!
