Summary: Lots of space in quiet farming area overlooking the ocean and mountains in background. Full kitchen, excellent grill/deck facilities and responsive host. Great place for family or friends to get together and enjoy all that Kaikoura has to offer and then have your own wonderful retreat right near town.

Summary: Fantastic place to stay with family and extended family. Lots of space, peaceful and relaxing. Place wasn’t cleaned and ready when we arrived so had to leave and come back which was the only downside, otherwise highly recommended staying

Summary: My wife and I chose Hapuku Retreat because it is close to the town of Kaikoura but far enough to have plenty of privacy. The house itself is very nice and is super spacious. It had everything we needed for our stay. The sunset we saw once we got onto the road heading to the house was one of the most beautiful sunsets we’ve seen, and the mountains right behind the house are just stunning. We did a helicopter whale watching tour in Kaikoura and the house was just a 10 minute drive to the destination which was very nice. I couldn’t recommend this house more to anyone staying in Kaikoura, we just absolutely loved it and wish we could’ve stayed longer.

Summary: Very good. A rural retreat. Easy drive to Kiakoura. Family enjoyed walking the dogs on the forest walk nearby.
