1 Bedroom Cabin in Courtenay

The Heritage cabin is over 100 years old but has been tastefully renovated without losing its charm. We wish to make this a family friendly experience while staying here. There is no extra charge for children. Any extra adults above two will pay a extra fee of $50 per night. A friendly, well behaved dog may accompany you but only if pre approved. The cost per night for a dog is $15. The
bedroom is quite large with a queen size bed and has a walk-in-closet as well as a small porch off of the bedroom. There are two high quality floor mats that are the size of a single bed and very comfortable. There is also a travel crib for a baby to sleep in as well as a high chair. The kitchen is fully equipped and there is a dining area as well as a living room. There is a full bathroom with a tub and shower as well as a separate laundry room. There is an area by the river for picnicking, swimming, barbecuing, relaxing in the hammocks as well as playing different outdoor games. There is also a tent if you chose to camp out by the river or you can bring your own tent, Just outside the cabin is a large organic seasonal garden and a small wooded area and open pasture. Toys games and books are provided for children as well as a backyard climber, slide and swing set. We have two children's Kayaks for use in our swimming area of the river.We have sheep and possibly lambs, depending on the time of year. We are located at the foot of Mt. Washington which is a Provincial Park with Skiing, Snowboarding, Tobogganing as well as Alpine meadows and trails for hiking or mountain biking. There are several beautiful beaches within a ten minute drive from the cabin as well as several hiking trails within close proximity. On clear nights the sky is spectacular with amazing star gazing as there are no city lights. You will wake in the morning to the sound of song birds and just peace and quiet. You can drive down to the cabin to unload and then park up by at the top of the property which is 300 feet from the cabin.

Summary: we had a lovely stay with Marlene. the cabin/cottage is located in a beautiful spot overseeing a garden and tree line. The deer coming for appels in the early evening were a treat, the bear in the vicinity was a bit more exciting. a terrific spot with small children, lots of space to run free and a river to explore near by, not to mention all the toys Marlene has in the upper field/play area. Marlene is a kind and lovely lady, we had a Wonderfull stay and felt very welcome!

Summary: Wonderful stay at this cabin. It exceeded our expectations in every way. Beautiful location. Well stocked with everything we could have needed and then some. If you want to experience the beauty of Merville and its great attributes, this is your place. Very nice owners, the gardens and flowers were all beautiful, the farm pets were all super, nature was all around, and a beautiful private location on the river.

Summary: Cracking little cabin in the wider grounds of the family home. Basic and perfect for getting away from the towns and cities. We saw plenty of wildlife and loved spending time in the creek at the bottom of the garden

Summary: What a beautiful cabin! The property had everything we needed for a comfortable stay, plus the garden, sheep and chickens, and apple tree that attracted deer daily gave us the taste of nature we craved on our vacation. The river was cool and shady, perfect for reading beside and bringing down a picnic. Thank you for hosting us, we hope to return again someday!

Summary: Such a wonderful, relaxing place to spend a few days. The river was perfect for a cool down on the hot days. The kids loved snacking on berries from the garden and saying hi to the chickens and sheep. The cabin was well stocked with everything we needed and Marlene was so warm and friendly. We definitely hope to come back one day!

Summary: Erich told me he bought this place because he fell in love with nearby Stotan Falls so he knew he needed to settle down somewhere similar. He and Marlene found a little piece of paradise on the Tsolum River. It’s peaceful with just the sounds of birds and bees and the quiet burbling water. The cottage is perfect with everything needed for a comfortable and relaxing stay in a stunning location. 5/5 would recommend!

Summary: My husband and I were looking for somewhere to stay in Courtenay as we had a celebration of life to attend. We knew we wanted peace and quiet, but what we found far exceeded expectations. The pictures on VRBO do not do it justice. Marlene and Erich provided all of the little extra touches You might need during your stay to provide comfort from the wood, already cut in the wood, shed beside the cabin for our use with the wood-burning stove - to books, movies, coffee, tea and even laundry! Perhaps the most beautiful feature, though is the surroundings. The sound of the birdsong, the river, the starscape at night. We will definitely be back!
