Summary: This property was perfect for our stay. About a 10 min drive to Bar Harbor, and 7 min to Otter Cliff, you're close to the center of everything while not being in it. Fire pit, back yard, porch to relax on when you're not out exploring, and a very friendly host, this was perfect for our family to explore Acadia and come back for quiet time in the afternoon. I would definitely stay here with the family again! The only thing I will note, don't rely on google maps to get here, follow the directions from the host. Google maps thinks there's a road that no longer exists!

Summary: My husband, 4 friends and I stayed at the Hideaway Chalet for a week while visiting Bar Harbor and Acadia National park. We really enjoyed the rental! There were 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, which was perfect for 3 couples. The house was very private, allowing us to feel safe and relaxed through the entire stay. The interior of the home is beautiful and there were plenty of amenities, which was great for us coming in from out of town. It was also in a great location (5-10 minutes to Acadia and 10 minutes to downtown Bar Harbor). Lastly, the rental company folks were very friendly, helpful and responsive. Our only recommendation for improvement is to buy a knife sharpener or a new knife set for the kitchen (the knives were very dull and hard to cut with). Otherwise, hideaway chalet was the perfect place for a getaway with friends and we would absolutely come back again!

Summary: The house was very clean and had plenty of space for our family of 4 (2 adult children). The house is very close to an entrance to Acadia, the more adventurous of our party hiked 2 trails that were even closer to the property. We had everything we needed during our stay.

Summary: The best part about this rental was its location - quiet and secluded, surrounded by woods but so close to the east side of MDI. We enjoyed the spacious living/dining space. The porch is lovely. I wish there had more comfortable seating and a table to eat meals or play cards/games outside. Would definitely recommend.

Summary: Perfect location if looking for an isolated Maine retreat with close proximity to Park and main street Bar Harbor. Advanced bikers (road & gravel) can access the park riding direct from this location. (Disclaimer there are hills) Quick access to Otter Cliff Road into Park brings you to a great place to watch the sunrise on the Cliffs. Right on the road to the house-short walk- you can access a short trail into the park that brings you to the base of Otter Creek inlet that has a little & less popular beach. House is great- cooked and ate almost all our meals there ...it was a treat bbq'ing on the charcoal Weber grill... everything came out great. Nice and quiet location.

Summary: We have stayed at this property 7 times. The place is going down hill. We were without hot water for one day and without heat for 5 days. lights were not working in some areas. Kitchen had missing cabinet handles. The VRBO rep was good to work with but as hard as they tried they couldn't get the owner to get things fixed in a timely manner. Needless to say it will be our last stay here.

Summary: Overall, we had a good experience! The place was clean and the kitchen was great to cook in. We were not expecting it to be at the end of a dirt road and glad we had a 4WD car to get us back there. We have two young kids (2 and 6 months) we felt a little uneasy with the kids being on the first floor and us upstairs but we quickly adjusted. Families with young kids should keep this in mind when they stay here. We also found several roofing nails in the drive way and on the deck left over from the roof being redone the previous year. Again, not ideal for young kids but we made it work and tried to clean up what we could. It was nice and quiet at the chalet so perfect for nap time!

Summary: Perfect place for our family week in Acadia. The Hideaway Chalet is nestled in a tree filled hollow with the nearby Otter Creek providing a pleasant sound to an otherwise quiet setting. A short ride to several park entrances can get you to Cadillac Mountain, the Loop Road, and Jordan Pond in 10 minutes or less. In about the same time you can be in downtown Bar Harbor. You can even hike from the house directly into the park off of Grover Avenue! After you are done with your day’s activities, coming back to The Hideaway Chalet provides you with what you need to clean up, cook, and relax for the evening. Sit on the deck and look up at the stars or start a fire and enjoy the glow well into the evening. There is ample supply of firewood in the area. The Chalet was clean, easy to clean after using, and came with everything needed to supply your stay. A quick ride to the Otter Creek store or Hannaford’s in Bar Harbor can get you everything else you need to stock the fridge. If this was available in September we’d book it again when we return. We’ll look again for 2024!
