Summary: A wonderful place to get away from it all. At night, there is not a single light to be seen giving you a sense of being in the middle of nowhere. Lots of hummingbirds came around once we filled their feeder.

Summary: This house and location did not disappoint! It was a bit tough to find once you get off the main road, but that is part of the charm. Due to the cliffs and crystal clear streams, it feels more like Western Colorado than Texas - all without having to drive half a day to get there.

Summary: We enjoyed our stay. The back patio overlooks a drop off where the creek below can be seen and heard. The open field below before the creek hosted timid deer in the early morning sunrises and adventurous squirrels in the afternoon. The kids splashed in the creek and jumped on the trampoline. On or near the property, we saw an armadillo, deer, squirrels, horses, and off the trail (perhaps on other private property, we weren’t sure) we witnessed a garter snake, three rams, and more lovely scenic Hill Country views. The nightly stars were bright despite the radiant full moon. The house and bunk house were quite accommodating with interesting artwork, good beds, and fully stocked kitchen and home supplies. The WiFi worked well, although we did not have cell signal. While the pig might have moved on, the stay did not disappoint at all.

Summary: We had a wonderful escape at the Hilltop Artist Cabin. Highlights included the absolutely beautiful view from the back porch, the fire pit and grill, and the cozy home. The house was clean and the setting remote making it the perfect escape during covid. We enjoyed having a well-equipped kitchen and did a lot of cooking, appreciated the Bluetooth speaker, enjoyed sitting on the back porch (did I mention the view?), and took advantage of local parks. It was a very scenic one-hour drive to Lost Maples as well as to Garner State Park. The queen-sized bed was very comfortable and there was an assortment of pillows to chose from. Finding the house was quite the adventure as Google maps has the road marked incorrectly and there was no cell service. Magen helped us with landmarks to look for and we were relieved to finally get there. Crossing the small creek was not as intimidating as it seemed at first and became part of the adventure. If you are looking for a Hill Country vacation, I would highly recommend staying at the Hilltop Artist Cabin.
