3 Bedroom House in Swan Valley

We invite you to have an experience.
This will not be your typical VRBO rental. It is not a brand new condo or cabin and this is intentionally so.
This home, while clean and updated, has history and nostalgia wrapped up in its walls, having been part of our family story since the early 1920's. Sitting on the beautiful Rainey Creek, this old stone home is in the heart of the Rocky Mountains and within walking distance of the Snake River. It was the home of some of the original Swan Valley settlers who farmed and ranched 160 acres for nearly a century. While it now features a new kitchen and bathroom, it still maintains its character throughout the rest of the home. A hundred years of old books line the shelves. There are original hardwood floors and an old upright piano. Antique photos, artifacts and furniture reveal insights into the home's history. Decades ago, the upstairs attic was converted to bedrooms with slanted ceilings and slightly uneven floors. After indoor plumbing became available, a tiny closet bathroom was added upstairs as well. There are beds for seven and 1 and 1/2 baths. The kitchen is well stocked with most everything you'll need, as is the bathroom. Washer and dryer are also available.
And YES, there are swans in Swan Valley! Several of them can be seen on Rainey Creek, right close to this property. The house lies on 1.3 acres of beautiful yard and landscape. Close by, a newer metal barn has a wall dedicated to artifacts and implements used on the farm over the past century (which we invite you to explore). Fishing and hunting licenses can be purchased locally.
There are lots of things to do around Swan Valley: fishing, hiking, biking, 4-wheeling, snowmobiling, water skiing, and hunting. If you enjoy the outdoors, you'll love Swan Valley. Palisades Lake is only 10 miles away. It is also convenient to Targhee Ski area in Driggs, Victor, Jackson Hole, Alpine and Star Valley. Idaho Falls is only 43 miles away and Jackson Hole is 46 miles. Snake River rafting trips are also available and fun.
We hope you'll enjoy the enchantment of stepping back into time while enjoying the beauty of Swan Valley here at our "Trumpeters Dell."

Summary: Such a wonderful welcoming little cottage on a nice plot of land that is well cared for. The history of this place makes her a fantastic read as well. It feels like a privilege to share this beautiful place. We did not find the downstairs beds very comfortable, did not want to go up and down the stairs too much. Overall it was very comfortable and we had a fantastic time.

Summary: We loved it here -- the history and family mementos, the cool (literally) stone building, the privacy, the space. Problems with check-in: VRBO does not have current information about contact person and the driving instructions were incorrect. The former property manager, a gracious, kind lady, interrupted her baking to come and lead us to the property.

Summary: We had a great stay. The property is lovely and has everything you could possibly need. Very convenient location. Day trips to Grand Teton and Yellowstone were easily doable. Definitely enjoyed dining at the Snake River Roadhouse and had a great trail ride with the Swan Valley Outfitters. Great experience 😊

Summary: The cottage was very clean and cozy. The bathroom and kitchen were beautiful and I couldn't believe how well it was stocked. I don't know how you thought of so many little items to make it like home. The living room was so cozy. It was like walking back in time. I actually looked through the book on the shelf and found it very interesting.. The beds were very comfortable. The best part was finding a moose in our yard one morning. How great is that.

Summary: Bitton House is a gem. Though the kitchen and bathroom have been updated, the rest of the house feels like stepping back in time. So much family history on this property. The house is cozy and very comfortable. The yard and surrounding properties are breathtaking. The owner is excellent at communicating. We hope to return next summer if not sooner! Thanks Ron and family.

Summary: This little cottage is a Gem if you are looking for Quaint, Clean, Comfy and Cozy!!!! Beautiful scenery surrounds this cottage. We arrived late the first night and Sonya was so much help in directions and she greeted us with Huckleberry muffins which we hadn’t ever had….D•E•L•I•S•H…….!! The beds slept great and we enjoyed a fire every morning and evening with the wood that was provided!! Deer greeted us every evening and had coffee with us each morning, such a treat! We had plenty of hot water, towels and even grilled out a couple of nights. I was worried about not having cable, but it was actually nice to sit by the fire, have a glass of wine and just enjoy “conversation” !! The online listing is Spot On, we throughly enjoyed our stay. Thanks for sharing your cottage and the History of Your Family that goes along with it.

Summary: What a wonderful place. The feeling in this home is warm and loving. The beds were comfortable and we slept so well. Seeing deer wander the property was so calming. We fished quite a bit and even saw 4 bald eagles diving for fish and calling to one another. Beautiful area. We will be back

Summary: This is a unique and historic homestead cottage. There are compromises in terms of ceiling heights, lack of WiFi and satellite tv that are offset by the lush grounds, location and abundant wildlife.
