1 Bedroom Cottage in Portsmouth

Kingsbury Cottage is part of a beautiful, comfortable 1815 historic home in what is likely the best location in town. Steps to much of what Portsmouth has to offer, with easy access to parks, museums, and amazing restaurants and nightlife. The Cottage is a 200 year old totally renovated space with beams and wide pine floors. It is attached to my brick Colonial home yet is its own separate space. Guests have parking, their own private entrance, use of the courtyards - front with gas firepit and back with hot tub. It's got two floors with great light. The upstairs bath was just upgraded and has a great steam shower. Half bath downstairs. This is so much more than a hotel room.

Summary: My husband and I visited Portsmouth for our anniversary. Check in was easy. The house is located right in town. Everything was clean and comfortable! We loved the hot tub to relax in at the end of the day. Jim was so kind and helpful. We highly recommend this location and look forward to returning in the future.

Summary: Can't think of a better place to stay if you are visiting Portsmouth! It really is a 4-minute walk over the bridge to Kittery, and a 2-block walk to Strawbery Banke. The cottage was absolutely lovely and comfortable. Beautiful amenities with the king-size bed, steam shower and hot tub. Very clean and homey. We very much enjoyed our stay and 110% happy choosing this house.

Summary: This property was everything it promised. While it does not have a kitchen, there are so many restaurants within a 5 minute walk it was never a problem for us for our 3 night stay. We had ample space in the small fridge for left overs and the toaster oven was perfect for reheating late night snacks. The space was well kept and very comfortable. A lot of small touches were done purposefully from the art chosen to the records and player in the upstairs space. The out door spaces were amazing. Sitting outside in the evening, with a cocktail was the highlight for us. We will definitely stay here again, actually it might be hard to convince my wife to stay anywhere else in Portsmouth. She is already looking at October and November!

Summary: Our two night stay in Portsmouth at Kingsbury was amazing! Thank you Jim! Very well thought out and cozy space. We loved the sidewalk patio as did all the passersby’s. Played a few albums on the record player and relaxed. Nice to hear the church bell chime. Great that we could walk everywhere from Kingsbury.

Summary: We found the property exactly as described and found it to be the perfect place for our weekend stay in Portsmouth. The property itself is a gem as it is right in town, but offers private spaces that just cannot be found in a hotel. The home itself has all the charm of a historic building, but is updated with a great attention to detail and all the modern conveniences. We loved people watching out front at the fire pit, as well as relaxing in the hot tub out back in the private yard. Jim was very welcoming and we appreciated his taking the time to show us the property’s features. All in all, this was a very comfortable place to stay within walking distance to everything and we wouldn’t change a thing! Would definitely stay again.

Summary: Perfect location, parking spot a plus! We enjoyed people watching from the cozy front garden before dinner. Everything is within walking distance. The steam shower was a plus with top of the line towels and bedding! Thanks Jim! We look forward to another stay!

Summary: Friday and Saturday evening stay for myself and my wife as a weekend getaway. The location of this property cannot be beat and it has modern amenities (smart lock, nest thermostat, Sonos speakers). As others stated there is not a full kitchen or laundry, however for a weekend stay this did not bother us in the least. There are sky lights in the bedroom that do not have shades, so if you are sensitive to light this might impact your sleeping. Between the place and the owner this place is 5 stars and highly recommended!

Summary: This is our 5th or 6th time staying here for a summer trip to Portsmouth. It is very well set--up, great location, and the owner is super helpful with suggestions for what to do and where to eat. Super roomy, eclectic books, all around a great relaxing place to stay. We will go back next summer.
