Amazing 5 Bedroom and 4.5 bath timber frame home on Lake James. Cozy and bright with open concept floor plan; fabulous cathedral great room, floor to ceiling windows, poplar bark gas fireplace and custom kitchen with hardwood countertops. This home has 2 main level master ensuites; a second floor loft family room with wet bar area; second floor ensuite bed/bath; second floor full bath; custom bunk room and guest room; large screened porch with wood burning stone fireplace; large deck overlooking the LEVEL backyard and Lake James; a Jacuzzi off of the deck and a gas grill for all your outdoor barbeque needs. Take a short walk down the wooden stairway to a covered gazebo nestled in the rhododendrons overlooking the lake. More steps down to the lake. There are 89 steps to get down to the lake, but there are breezeways and benches to rest for the weary! Plenty of room for fun on the two slip covered dock with entertainment deck, outdoor shower and beach at the waters edge.

You are a short car ride away from the Blue Ridge Parkway and spectacular lookouts. You can go gem mining, white water rafting, zip lining, and hiking in the Pisgah National Forest; play golf at nearby Marion Golf Club; or take off explore the quaint town of Asheville bustling with artisans and of course the famous Biltmore and Grove Park Inn. Visit Grandfather Mountain, Blowing Rock, Mt. Mitchell, Linville Gorge, Chimney Rock and Lake Lure (where Dirty Dancing was filmed) or go snow skiing in the winter at Sugar Mountain or Beech Mountain.
The nearby towns of Nebo, Marion and Morganton offer all conveniences and supplies. Beer Creek Marina is located within 5 minute boat ride of the home as well.

Summary: House is more than adequately equipped, but it needs a lot of TLC, especially the stairs and decks to the boat house. Boat house is in bad shape! House needs a deep cleaning. We still had a great time on the lake, after renting a boat from the marina. (The info about the local guy who brings you a boat is not at all accurate)

Summary: My kids have always made a big deal about my “decade” birthdays. We’ve gone to Six Flags, Disneyworld, and the Chicago Water Show. For this decade year, I just wanted to chill by the lake, enjoy the scenery, get out on our boat, and do some fishing without having to drive there. This home provided a wonderful backdrop for “the best!” (Grandkids) family vacation and party. The kitchen amenities are terrific! The layout of the bedrooms and bathrooms are perfect for a large family. The grandkids loved playing flashlight tag (with iPhones) in the backyard which has a lot of level ground before sloping down to the lake. We had a truly amazing time and it was a wonderful birthday celebration! Thank you.

Summary: Our family of 8 adults (and one infant) had a wonderful stay at this property. Plenty of room and very comfortable. The house had everything we needed and is well located on Lake James (very close to the marina). The hosts were fantastic and very responsive. Highly recommend this lake house to any large group visiting Lake James!

Summary: My son got married that weekend in Marion and this was the perfect house for our family to stay. We were close to the wedding venue and the grandparents felt at home in this great house! Would be a great summer vacation site! Didn’t get to enjoy the lake but it would have been such a relaxing weekend if we had been there for vacation!

Summary: We love Lake James and enjoyed our stay! There was plenty of space for 4 adults and 4 teenagers to spread out. The double decker dock was a great place to relax and fun to jump off of. There are more stairs to get up & down than we realized from the pictures, but it wasn’t an issue. The kayaks were great, too. We would come back for sure.

Summary: We’ve stayed at this house several times now and just love it. The size, quality, and amenities are terrific.There were a couple of issues that arose during our stay and the owner was super responsive and friendly. The lake dock is the BEST and entertains all ages. The Lake James area has so much to offer - the beautiful, scenic lake surrounded by our much beloved NC Blue Ridge mtns, the town with delish restaurants and breweries, Asheville is a close drive along with the Linville area for hiking and wandering as well. Be forewarned that the walk down to the lake has a lot of stairs. There are benches along the way for those that need a break. My elderly, infirm parents were able to manage in spurts. Otherwise, totally do-able and worth the walk down! We will be back for sure! Thank you for sharing your home with us!

Summary: First off the community is beautiful! As you pass the gate you are well aware that you are going to see beautifully maintained homes and surrounding areas. Check in was extremely smooth as very clear and accurate instructions are given. We had a range of ages in our vacation from 78 to 6 yrs of age. The house has something that most houses does not have when having lake access, a yard! We were able to throw around a football, run and play on actual grass! The fire pit and chairs were great as we made s’mores almost every night. We also really enjoyed the hot tub in the evenings. The dock was great, but the steps were no joke coming back up for us “older folks.” We opted to drive to the Bear Creek Marina to load and unload the boat to those who didn’t want to go the steps route which was no trouble at all. The hosts checked on us to make sure that everything was going smoothly throughout our stay which was great! We had fun making all these new memories together!
