Come and experience life in our 6-bdrm lake house, by the desirable Shawnigan Lake School. You can have the best of 'lake life' but also tour around the Garden City of Victoria (35 min) or mins from a ferry to Sydney by the Sea. Our warm & inviting home is ideal for multi-family gatherings or an escape for city-dwellers. Hosted by a family of 5, we have attention for detail. Enjoy the sun filled yard, late night fires and the open space and kitchen to entertain. Bonus: gym/7 person hot-tub.
The outside area has a beautiful, private garden, teared landing and grassy noel. With many areas around the house to entertain, play yard games and absorbed the large surrounding trees or star-lit skies. The upper deck provides a morning oasis for coffee and reading. There is a large area for fires, and a large deck with propane fire pit. When in season, we have herbs, tomatoes and garden that you can incorporate into the meals created in the large open-concept kitchen. In the off-season, curl up by one of the two fire places, enjoy its warmth and aroma, while creating family memories playing family games (provided). The Master bedroom offers a private three piece ensuite, with a view onto the back garden. Bunkbeds offer a fun space for kids to play and make memories. On the lower level provides superior gym equipment for the fitness lovers or a calm, retreat for the yoga enthusiasts. Make it a Bikram session by firing up the river stone fire-place. Each room provides comfort and offers a space to retreat, even amongst a full-house.

Our neighborhood has large full growth trees and private lots. The house is in a sunken lot; providing many wonderful areas to sit and breathe in the mountain air. We are on a cul-de-sac, so road noise is minimal. It is minutes walk to the lake, a boat launch, or a bakery/convenient store. It takes 4 minutes to drive to the main four-corners of town offering artisan ice-cream, taco shop, bakery/chocolate cafe, general store, sushi, vintage stores. We are 10 minutes from the quaint Cobble Hill, where you can find hikes, bike park, an award-winning food truck, consignment stores, pub, & antique shopping. Close by are quad/dirt bike trails, Mt. Baldy and a Liquor store to wet the whistle after a day at the lake. With access to our kayak or water toys, the lake is a must to take in.

We are just a couple minutes from Mason's Beach, the boat launch and the main little village of Shawnigan (15 minute walk or 4 minute car ride). We are 45 minutes to downtown Victoria and 15 to Duncan. With many wineries, cideries, trails, the Kinsol Trestle, The Lakehouse restaurant, there is lots to enjoy.

Summary: A group of us enjoyed this property as a weekend retreat. The property was well-maintained and comfortable. The location was a perfect place from which to explore Shawnigan Lake and the evenings in the hot tub and around the campfire were so relaxing.

Summary: We were led to believe this home was ‘steps’ from the beach, and was chastised by the owner for ? the closeness of the lake in our original queries. But if you have kids, carrying kayaks, and paddle boards, and the stuff families take to the beach. Kilometres is a better description. You have to drive to any decent swim area. The lake was great, that is where the kids had all the fun, but not enough public places. The public places were bare minimum to qualify as parks. Shawnigan Lake is about 99% private owned. The town is not touristy in any sense of the word. The home, was very rustic. Yes it had 5 bedrooms, but only 1 couple had a good nights sleep the whole time. Even the kids , aged 14,13,13,11,10 and 7 slept badly. There were too many things that went wrong, and were broken or not maintained. Based on the owners rule book they need to live by their own words. ‘ Treat our home as you would yours’ All of us agreed we treated our homes better than the host. So many things broken, clean ‘soiled ‘ white hand towels, fuses blowing, disgusting unkept and not maintained hot tub, broken glass in the back yard, ( where kids were running barefoot) . So if you want a Rustic home, not near the beach, this is the place. I will be sending a complete list of broken, unmaintained items to the owner directly. But wanted to save a few families dissappointment. Only one place to rent one boat , and two wave runners. All the rest are private.

Summary: We all really enjoyed this property - it fit our purposes, from the precocious 5 year old to the grumpy 68 year old Grampa! Tons of space if you need your own space. Great toys for the young ones, and a pool table & dart board for the adults. Plus loads of games, kid puzzles, etc. the house is very clean, and outside is lovely. It’s a two level house so there are stairs, which worked fine for us. The kitchen is extremely well stocked with dishes, cutlery & cups/glasses, pots & pans, etc., I just can’t say enough. My grumpy old husband says this is the best place yet that we’ve ever rented!
