Positive: It's high on the hill away from the tourist area with a magnificent view of the lake, but its only about 6 or 7 minites walk to hippy highway if you want it or the same to la Reserva to swim in the lake. There is a large fridge freezer and small kitchen to use. The patio is swept daily and the local caretakers are responsive to requests. I was on the upper level with private bathroom and the matress and pillows on the bed were súper comfortable.
Negative: There is a power tower in the vicinity which is ugly but necessary, so I just always looked the other way. Sometimes the pueblo doesn't have water, not the fault of the property, but the guests leave all their washing up mess in the kitchen. I kept 2x litre bottles of tap water in my room for when this happened so i could flush the loo and wash my hands.
Summary: Great place to be away from all the activity

Positive: Great view and location, a bit removed from the center. Beds were super comfy and nice to have access to a kitchen. I ended up extending here longer because it was so nice to enjoy the hammocks and view and to recharge after months of travel. Highly recommend!

Positive: The view is amazing, the rooms were very clean. Having the hammock is nice. Good size room. Very good for the price. Very close to everything in the downtown area.
Negative: Very very noisy the walls must be made from paper. The staff could be a little friendlier. But never had any issues, the shared shower was really not comfortable due to lack of cleanliness. There should be mirrors and garbages in the rooms. If these things were met I would have given a 10. Also a better explanation how to get to the hotel because the long way around GPS directs you to is treacherous. Very steep there's a much easier way from the first road.

Positive: I loved the view of my room and the personal table and hammock that I had! Having a kitchen was a necessity as well.
Negative: I did not like that the water filters were not consistently refilled, so I didn't know if I would have clean water to drink. I of course would refill them, but they take time as it was an eco filter. Also the water was completely turned off on Sunday and I was not made aware - no toilet, shower, sink, etc.
Summary: I enjoyed Hotel Berena for a few days of solitude and focus on my work with an incredible view.

Positive: The amazing view, large room, excellent kitchen, hammocks on the balcony. The staff were not permanently on site. Someone came to clean but we didn't have much contact. There is a night security man. Not too far from Centro.
Negative: Bring earplugs. Dogs bark all night and it echoes. Don't leave any alcohol over night in the frig. Mine disappeared.

Positive: - Room was comfortable kinda cute and clean! - Big window and hammoc on the balcony. - Shared kitchen was good. - Keys to lock your door. - Shared bathroom was OK!
Negative: 1- You need to climb some stairs in a uphill street to get there. 2- They lock the front door at night and they also lock the kitchen at night!!! Wich means you don't have access to your food or to DRINKING WATER! Be careful with that. I've been super thirsty one night... and every shop in town was closed. No water to take my medication before going to bed.
Summary: Great price / value

Negative: Internet could be improved. And the noise of the water pump was disturbing in the night.
