Positive: The building is full of character and history and very comfortably decorated and furnished. I love the themed rooms and the explanations of the history as part of WW2 surrender in the Netherlands. The food and drink were great quality and the staff friendly and professional.
Negative: Breakfast was a bit inconsistent in terms of food being consistently available and easy to find. For instance some days forks were not provided to use for cold meat and cheeses and fresh ginger for tea wasn’t always provided. The tea choice was poor, no black tea. No issue with coffee or overall food quality and variety. Wouldn’t stop me going back if I was in Wageningen again but a bit unexpected in view of the general excellence of the hotel.

Positive: This is a beautiful place in the heart of Wageningen. It is historic and has a great atmosphere. I am happy to have stayed here and would come again, but it is expensive for a couple of minor points.
Negative: Although I was there in the heart of winter, it was not extremely cold, but the room was cold and the bathroom was freezing. Cleanliness could have been better - a lot of dust in the room. I also dined in the restaurant. It had just opened after a rebuild and the staff nor the kitchen were not entirely up to speed yet. Fewer options for dinging and quite a number of hiccups with service (mostly slow) - yet we paid full price. I think a reduction woudl have been in order when they are running their learning curve on me.
Summary: Very nice, good location, but could do with some improvement

Positive: This would be the best hotel in Wageningen. It's classy and old style. Bedroom was huge, each are decorated/dedicated to a famous person/style. Bed was very comfortable. Breakfast had a good selection and was good. There was no dedicated fridge in the room, but could be rolled in from the corridor if required. Well located on the town centre (shopping, bars, eating), and a short walk to the bus station for access around. Evening restaurant is very upmarket.
Negative: Evening restaurant is very upmarket - some more regular options might have been good. I don't always want to go out to eat for comfort food.

Positive: Unique room design. In my case Florence Nightingale room.
Negative: The noise from kitchen and bar below my room. Noisy until past midnight and then again from 6am. Towels not changed in bathroom. Lock on bedroom door kept sticking. Breakfast was very basic and not worth the money.
Summary: Not good value for money sadly.
