Positive: This is more than just exceptional!!! First, but not least, owners are sweetest people ever!!! Second-you have everything you need here, from facilities to food/wine. Food Tina cooks is AMAZING, wine is AMAZING! Now, let’s talk about views right from your room (basically,any room you’ve booked here)-jaw dropping, mind blowing, eyes falling! You see Vardzia cavetown from here, beautiful mountains and river. At the night time, you hear that river flowing-whispering to your ears “sleep well,baby”. Absolutely lovely place! And if I had to choose between 5 star resort and Gvala rooms for the same price, I would choose Gvala with no doubt, because this is 10 out of 5! I’ve stayed here longer than I’ve booked and now I want to live here. Clean and comfortable, shower is great, hairdryer is great, rooms are great, location is great, and literally everything here is great! I’ve traveled 45 countries so far and this is the first long review I’ve ever done. Use your judgement 🥰

Positive: Very comfortable rooms, built and equipped to modern standards. Balcony with great view. Very hospitable hosts, excellent homegrown food and wine. Dinner cost 30gel and breakfast the same, but best meals so far in Georgia. Clear communication (Russian and Georgian). I never score places a 10 but this place is fantastic, hence I guess the above-average price. The marshrutka from Borjomi direction will stop at the property if you ask. They run from Akhaltsikhe four times a day, last departures 1600 and 1730. From the property it's a 20 minutes easy walk to Vardzia entrance (enables you to get there before the crowds).

Negative: Be aware that public internet is very limited in this valley and Gvala wifi isn't dependable.

Positive: This place is run by Tomas and Tina; they are enthusiastic to ensure guests get every attention possible. Room is basic but adequate. We chose to arrange to have dinner and breakfast- meals were certainly an interesting experience beside a roaring open fire... great for a winter visit. Our hosts so attentive and helpful- we went for a long walk to Tvala castle and as we got back to Vardia Tomas must have spotted us across the river.... and came to collect us. So hospitable.

Negative: The place is as advertised. Some reviews note that meals are perhaps a little overpriced (especially breakfast), but this is an option and does not detract from the great value of the accommodation and the fantastic hospitality.

Summary: Wonderful winter experience in Vardzia - many thanks to our fantastic hosts...

Positive: Tomas & Tina were lovely hosts they shared some homemade wine, pickled veges & cheese with me. Tomas took me around in his Ute to Showcased the Natural Wonders of Vardzia left me at the Caves then picked me up on a agreed time. The Room was Warm & Cozy.

Positive: Great location in front of Vardzia caves The owners do not speak English but were super nice and tried hard to serve and make us happy The rooms are basic but the beds were super comfortable

Negative: Breakfast was ok and had many good things that were prepared, but was served the salad from the evening ( minor)

Positive: Everything was perfect. Good position, just 20 minutes walk from the caves, safe parking for motorcycles and cars, furniture in the room is new and the room itself is super clean. The hosts are incredibly kind. Absolutely recommended!
