Positive: Breakfast was delicious. Host Oona was able to accommodate food restrictions (I'm allergic to pepper), and provided an incredibly ample breakfast. The eggs were fresh from her chickens. The property and rooms were quite lovely. She spoke English for us, which was nice as none of us really speak German. We were traveling with medication that needed to be kept cold, and while there was no fridge / freezer in the rooms, they were able to keep our things in their fridge and freezer, so that was nice. We booked 2 rooms for 3 people (2 adults and a teenager). I had asked that we have rooms close together, and they gave us rooms across the hall from each other, so that was perfect. We had requested extra blankets and pillows, which were provided and pointed out when we arrived. The rooms were clean and well accommodated. The double room had a small table and chairs; no additional seating in the single room. Both had places to put clothing, though we didn't utilize them as we were only staying for 1 night. In the morning, there were church bells, which were quite lovely to hear, though early (7 am, I think?). I'm a light sleeper, and they woke me up. My husband and son are both heavy sleepers, and neither of them woke up. It wasn't really bothersome to me, but just something to be aware of. The rooms also had roll-down blinds, so were easily able to be made nearly 100% dark (a little light seepage, but not much). The property was well-kept and clean. Parking is ample, and secured (there's a gate). We stayed in a room on the first floor, and it seems like most of the rooms (if not all) are up a single flight of stairs. There appeared to maybe be some rooms on the garden level, but even they had a single step into them (i.e. accessibility for those who are mobility impaired might be an issue, as is common in this type of accommodation).
Negative: I would like to start with, none of these 'issues' would prevent me from booking here again. I absolutely would stay here again if we were to stay in the area again. I just like to write full and honest reviews. The room was a little chilly, as we were traveling during July/ August when one would expect it to be warm, and in fact it rained the entire 2 weeks we were there. That said, in Europe, it is VERY common for properties to have heating turned off during the summer months, and often they require a technician to turn turn them on (they can't always be turned on or off by the residents / owners). However, there were AMPLE blankets, so we stayed quite warm during the night and didn't really have a problem with the cold. Just as an awareness. One of the keys (the single room) was an old-style lock (think skeleton style key), and it was a little sticky to get the lock to lock / unlock, but it was functional. The double room across the hall had a ore standard housekey lock, and that worked fine. The bathrooms were small, but completely functional, save for there were no hooks to hang towels / damp clothes. It would be nice if there were hooks available in the bathroom. We had gone swimming at another location previously in the day, and it would have been nice to be able to hang up the damp swimsuits. Additionally, the floor of the shower is not separated from the floor of the rest of the bathroom at all, leading to the water from the shower to escape the shower area and run under the wall-mounted toilet / standing area. A minor inconvenience if you're standing in the bathroom in socks while brushing teeth, to find your socks wet from someone else taking a shower. Again, a minor issue.
Summary: Lovely place, would 100% stay here again.
