Positive: Rooms are not huge but big enough. The breakfast was delicious and beautifully presented. Parking free in front of hotel, there is acoin operated laundry.

Negative: Bathroom is tiny as almost everywhere in Japan with no walk in shower. The room doors have toobig a space at thebottom, letting in light and sound

Negative: Very inconvenient to get luggage in and out of property to the parking area because of steps, narrow entry’s, etc. Nice breakfast but no choices

Positive: Room was larger than is common in Japan, and spotless. Beds were comfortable and the shower hot and powerful. Upstairs onsen was a bonus, especially on a cold winter's day.

Negative: Location isn't particularly central, and Kesennuma's two main museums aren't directly accessible by public transport, A BRT station is not much more than a brisk five minute walk away, though, and hotel staff will happily call a taxi if desired.

Positive: Dinner was exceptional. Fresh sashimi and a wide variety of dishes presented in artistic form were the most delicious we have ever had. Be sure to bring a lot of appetite because the portion is big.

Negative: The carpet on the guest room floors was stained and could be replaced.

Positive: Very clean older building in Kesennuma. There's a lot of reasons I'd give the hotel a break because it's a rural hotel in Kesennuma. The lobby is lower than ground level because of the debris brought in by the Tohoku Earthquake tsunami and Kesennuma appears to be trying hard to get back to their new normal. It's an older building that could use some renewal. Breakfast was off-site because they don't have enough seating in the building. I checked in too late to get an early slot that I needed because of trains. The off-site breakfast was wonderful, though. The fish I had in the area was some of the best I've had.

Negative: This hotel is located in an industrial area near the fish market, but about 15 minutes walk from "downtown". There's nothing much nearby that I saw but I didn't do that much exploring. It's also a bit of a walk from the BRT stop.

Summary: Definitely visit Kesennuma.
