Positive: Loved this guest house. I was travelling alone visiting my son who lives nearby. My room was spacious, comfortable and really clean and well presented. Fabulous Onsen and really good breakfast each morning. Super location with an easy walk up a small hill into Akakura for restaurants and the ski lifts. The staff were lovely, really kind and friendly. I didn't use the restaurant/bar but it was a really nice space and I'm sure would have been great. Can't recommend Hotel Mumon enough.

Negative: Nothing, it was all great.

Positive: Great stay overall. The accommodation is a bit dated, but very comfortable with plenty of heating, a sink in the room, and access to a shared bathroom onsen. The location is convenient—about a 10-minute walk to the centre of Akakura and 5 minutes to the Kumado ski lifts. They also accept snowboard delivery via Yamato and can help organise forwarding to your next destination, which makes travelling super easy.

Negative: I didn't use the onsen as it was was slimy.

Positive: Such a lovely hotel with lovely staff. The breakfast has homemade bread and very fresh fruit and was so delicious. The location is wonderful- right in the heart of Akakura. Just be aware it’s not right next to Myoko stations.

Positive: The staff were great and really friendly. The room was warm 100% of the time without the need for a kerosene heater as there was built-in central heating. The room was spacious with everything you needed. Room service was brilliant with pj's folded on the bed and fresh snacks on the table

Positive: A very well managed hotel. The 2 guys who are in the frontline speak English which helps a lot. And they are very helpful. I loved the rooms very spacious with a sofa area. And the heater considering it was still cold and snowing had the option of the air conditioner and the gas heater( however this can get smelly understandably) unlike some places where it’s only the gas heater. I will definitely be back n looking forward to staying with Hotel Mumon again. Ps- short walk to ski lifts Akakura onsen n the restaurants
