Travel Purpose: leisure

Positive: The entire staff was extremely pleasant and went above and beyond their remit. They were extremely helpful and worked very hard to ensure a pleasant stay. Any time I raised something to their attention it was addressed promptly and very politely. From that point of view it has performed better than some 4star hotels I’ve staid at here in Calabria / Tropea. Good kitchen and food quality for lunch and dinner (with abundant portions). Short walk to the beach with beautiful sea. Cleaning staff very efficient and room cleaned daily to a high standard and very quickly (3 ladies working simultaneously).

Negative: The hotel itself could use a refresh and upgrade. It is a 3 star, so expectations need to be adjusted for that. It was at times a bit loud due to street noise. Breakfast could be improved for savory options, but what on offer was good and again staff very friendly and helpful. Perhaps little space to hang beach towels to dry out in the terrace (for a triple room. Quadruple rooms have a bigger terrace with sufficient space)

Positive: I arrived at the hotel after a long journey with bus from Milan to Crotone and I found the owner and the staff very friendly. It’s not the tourists or visitor season for that small town, so I found many shops closed. The owner (manager) accompanied me in his car late in the evening to get a pizza. Then the day of check-out when it was raining he gave me a ride to the next town (Botricello) where there is a train station to get back to Crotone.

Summary: Despite the shipwreck tragedy in this small town, I found the citizens very friendly people.
