Positive: The pool was great (when it was open) and there was a diving board that my kids loved. It was quiet with a slow flow of people, no need to put towels down early! We loved that. The staff were brilliant, steak was amazing in the restaurant and the drive into san vito was easy. 2 great sandy beaches close by and a rocky cove below the hotel in walking distance . Rooms were cleaned daily. On the whole it was a lovely chilled stay.

Negative: Fun was not allowed at the pool, no patting a ball to each other or jumping in (although they did have a diving board). The pool closed daily between 2-4.00pm and didn't open until 10.00am. On one day it closed completely, we went out for the day and arrived back at 4pm for the pool and the owner Mari Lu became quite angry when we questioned this and she refused to let anyone in. A couple of other families were there, the owner was saying it was due to local fires and the pool needing cleaning but the nearby fires happened 2 days prior. It was all just very odd, the gardener and receptionist were both lovely but Marilu seemed quite controlling and disliked people enjoying the hotel. Also it's good to be aware that swimming caps for the pool must be worn or you are made to buy them for 4 euros each, this was new to us , but apparently not uncommon in Italy.

Summary: Love Sicily and our stay but the rules were very frustrating

Negative: We stayed over for three days and two nights at Pocho hotel in San Vito Lo Capo. Overall it was an underwhelming experience. 1) The bike situation: the hotel is one hour away by walk from the village and quite secluded. We chose this hotel as it reads clearly on the website "during your stay, you will be able to use our bikes", however when we asked the receptionist, she said that they do not rent bikes and that it's not written anywhere. When we said that it was written on the website, she said that they do not offer this service anymore as the road is too dangerous. As a result we had to walk along the "highway" for an hour anytime we wanted to go to the village. If you have a car as most people do, it's not a big issue but for us it was. 2) The swimming pool: We also choose this hotel because of the pool. Unfortunately, the pool was closed. When we asked to if we could use it, the receptionist said that we had to pay an extra 6e for mandatory swim caps. It's the first time in my life that someone asks me to wear a swim cap in an hotel pool. Furthermore, you cannot ask for an extra fee for swim caps if you promote your hotels pool online. The pool was dirty and surrounded by ropes so that you could not use it (weird). 3) The receptionist as a whole: The receptionist was cold, unfriendly and honestly quite despicable. Anything we asked was too much for her, she complained when we said that we didn't want to pay for the swim caps, she complained when we asked for the bikes or to book a taxi for the airport etc... During the whole stay, she did not say thank you, you're welcome or any other form of politeness. Apart from her, the other members of the staff were pleasant. It is disappointing that the face of your hotel is so unfriendly and uncomfortable.

Positive: Brilliant hotel. We stay away a lot with work and fun. Husband said it’s the first time he was as at ease due to how clean the hotel/room was. It has a home feel to the premises and the staff are exceptionally welcoming and friendly.

Negative: Taxis aren’t easy to get. We had a car but wanted an evening out in town which isn’t far, minutes away. But hotel staff managed to get one after many calls :) not a dislike but the only downside. Wine is to good !

Summary: Amazing hotel, beautiful views and location. Could not fault the stay! We will be back :)
