Positive: This is a traditional ryokan and therefore it’s important to assess it on its own terms. It’s not a luxury hotel, but it is a lovely place to stay. The staff were wonderful, our room was huge and comfortable, the onsen was beautiful and the food was outstanding. I loved the traditional yukata and samue they provided, and the beauty products in the onsen were great. The location is very good- an agricultural town with fields surrounded by mountains- but it is next to a road so it’s not the most scenic. That said, it is very close to an amazing shrine that is one of the most beautiful holy places I have ever experienced.
Negative: The lighting in the room was harsh, and the small rooms at dinner got very hot with the open flames.
Summary: Wonderful, traditional inn with excellent staff and great food.

Positive: The meals were excellent, especially the kaiseki dinner. The staff were friendly and attentive and we were very happy with our stay. The hotel also has a very charming, old school feel.
Negative: The only thing we noted was that the room was a bit dated but it was still comfortable and very spacious with a separate sleeping area and living area (tatami mats).
Summary: Wonderful staff, excellent meals and overall a very memorable experience.
