Summary: We stayed here with our teen daughters while doing the sights of Paris and Palace of Versailles. It's a hilly 1 km walk from two suburban train stations that run into the city and a single bus ride to the Palace. Getting to either takes about 40 minutes, including walking and transferring to the metro, etc. The guest house has an adequate kitchen for preparing simple meals and there are grocery stores near the train station. Plenty of restaurants in Chaville as well. The hot water ran on a schedule so there were a few cold showers, but hosts answered immediately and turned it back on upon our request. Our kids enjoyed the pool! All in all, a good, quiet place to stay while visiting Paris if you dont mind a bit of a commute!

Summary: If you're looking for a great place to stay in a peaceful and quiet neighborhood outside of the bussle of the center of Paris, this is the place for you. It's suburbia so you'll need to take a train/taxi/uber to get into the city portion of Paris and it's about 15m walk to either of the closest train stations. I found this to be a great value for what you get and makes it affordable to visit Paris!

Summary: First of all the property is not in the condition show in these listing photos. Both their house and the guesthouse are dirty and neglected. You can see piles of stuff in their house through the large windows. The garden is in a state of disrepair with debris everywhere, there is no swing, the slide is filled with debris and random garden waste. Inside the bannister to the stairwell is broken, the rug is dirty with a strong smell, and the sofas are not the same as the listing. Instead it is a very small sofa and chair that are peeling and cracked. The property had clearly not been cleaned and there was a random broom in the shower, random swiffer on the wall, the cabinets and kitchen were filled with crumbs and dust, there were toys and dolls in various states of decay strewn about the property (which we didn’t even mind since we have kids), and random long black hair strands (I have blonde hair). The bar chairs were moldy. Paul seemed nice initially, but once we left early and these issues were brought to his attention he did not choose to do the right thing. I wanted to believe maybe their family had been through some event or bad time to make their property decline so far from pictured and mentioned in reviews. I wish I could include photos in my review. Trust me, do not book. We spent time literally in the pouring rain because we couldn’t stand the thought of going back to this place.

Summary: Friendly communication with the owner. Nice area. It's much closer to a few shops/restaurants than google suggests (only about 5 minutes walking down a fairly steep hill, perhaps 10 back). Possibly a bit far for popping in and out of Paris more than once a day. Plenty of room for the two of us and our 10 and 12 year old kids. A very short drive to Versailles (only seemed about 10-20 minutes).

Summary: We enjoyed being outside of Paris (as the hustle and bustle was a bit much for us). We felt very safe here and enjoyed the local cafe and small organic grocery story. Many guests commented the walk to and from the train station was quick, but we did so much walking in the city, the walk to and from the train station felt long. It was also difficult for us (being Americans and not used to public transit) to figure out the tickets. We ended up buying metro tickets that did not work for the smaller tram to the VRBO. There was no one at the station to help, even though it was operating hours. This meant we needed to take a taxi, which was expensive (I am sure other guests could figure this out, but it was a challenge for us). Note about how to lock a French door - turn the handle up. This was not in the instructions and we had to find a video online. Again, our challenges where likely due to being American. If you don't speak French and are not used to public transportation, and you want to save your steps for the city, you might want to think twice about this accommodation.

Summary: This house is a great spot if you want to visit Paris and/or Versailles. The train station is nearby and bring you in 15 minutes in Paris (La Defense). From there, you can take any metro you’ll want. In less than 10 minutes you will be in Versailles. The pool is really refeshing after a day in the city. Paul and his family are great! We really recomend this location.

Summary: After weeks in big city apartments, this was the perfect place for our family. We had plenty of space to spread out inside, and the kids loved having a yard and pool to play in. The hosts were very kind and accommodating! We were a little concerned about getting into Paris, but it was not difficult. Mostly we used the Chaville Rive Droit station and RER U or L, changing trains at La Defense. It took 10-15 minutes to walk to the station, depending on how fast our kids walked. Our first morning was a Sunday and we were very happy to find a person working at the Chaville Rive Droit ticket office, even on a Sunday morning. She was very helpful and helped us buy Navigo Decouverte passes for the whole week. That saved us a lot of trouble buying individual tickets, and ultimately saved money, as we used our passes to get to Charles de Gaulle at the end of our stay. Passes are also good for busses and the Montmatre funicular, which was fun. For groceries, we shopped some at the Biocoop in Chaville. It is nice, but expensive. Other stores, including Monoprix and Picard, are about a 15-30 minute walk. Or take bus 171 for a quicker trip.
