Summary: Just stayed for one night in town for a college event. The room was clean but very worn. Sink had rusted hole in it. Lamp shade was busted. Worst of all was the very noisy hvac unit. On or off made no difference. It sounded like a loud wind storm being strangled. Miserable. The breakfast was fine. About what was expected. The service was okay. Check out and check in were fine but when I mentioned the hvac unit the lady behind the counter showed little interest. Oh well. I can’t remember the last time I stayed in a HoJos but nice to see that not much has changed over the years. If I’m back in town I will look elsewhere.

Summary: Howard Johnson's is a reliable place to stay when I visit Amherst. It's clean, comfortable, affordable and conveniently located. Nothing posh or fancy about it, but it serves its purpose well. Mini fridge in room is a nice plus. Would be nice if they had in-room microwaves.

Summary: It was clean but not sparkling. Could have liked another blanket, Spoke to staff 3 times coming and going. Everyone was friendlhy. I would come back at at discount rate. It was a quiet weekend., No students around.

Summary: I was on the 4th floor. Room was excellent, high ceilings, great bed/bedding, bath. Staff were all very friendly, helpful, competent. I would definitely stay again.

Summary: There were drain flies(?) in the sink and dead on the bed. Asked for a bedding change (housekeeping was gone for the day-at 5:30 p.m.) Asked the front desk to send clean bedding up to the room-no one available so had to go pick up myself. Not even an apology or offer of a different room. The next morning, the bottom of the tub had several black "blobs"-mouse feces, other vermin residue? Who knows? Stuffed a wash cloth to block the drain and left the next day.

Summary: Air quality in certain rooms is bad and have a bad smell, the heater/ac units in the windows are barely working if working at all in certain rooms. Needs a refresh!
