Positive: What a special place to stay. There were so many added items include included in our one night day. For example, the owner brought us on a long trip through all of the city. We stopped at various famous spots for glorious pictures, and we were given lots of insight. It was great for my Italian practice because he explained it all and then I would explain it to my friends in English. Excellent restaurant next-door, which was recommended for lunch. I would love to bring my family here soon!

Positive: SAVIO was such a generous and friendly host and an excellent guide, driving us on wonderful tours of the caves, churches and the whole city. He couldn’t do enough for us. Excellent accommodation right in the sassi. He left so much food and drink for us to enjoy.

Positive: We could not fault our stay. The location was amazing, everything was walking distance, views everywhere you look. Savio was incredible, he met us at a train station so we could follow him to park our car. He then drove us around town to give us a tour because it was raining. He booked our dinner at a beautiful restaurant. He has the home stocked with food, juices and wine, so incredibly thoughtful. 5 stars - would recommend to anyone. Modern comforts, great beds, two bathrooms, air circulation system 👌

Positive: Exceptional Stay and Host From the moment we arrived, it was clear that this was no ordinary hotel stay. The owner truly went above and beyond to make sure every guest felt welcomed, comfortable, and completely taken care of at his place and that we knew how everything worked. It honestly felt like staying with a gracious friend who had thought of everything. If you happened to forget anything at home, chances are it was already waiting for you here. What truly set this experience apart, though, was that he personally took us to all of the most picturesque spots in town and even to the stunning viewpoints across from the city. Every stop felt carefully chosen, offering postcard-perfect views and perspectives we never would have found on our own. We liked this place and the host so much that we actually came back with a second set of family a couple of weeks later. We originally came in mid-December with my elderly mother and some cousins. Savio, our host, was so kind and generous with ensuring that my mom was comfortable and could see everything in the town that he took us on a private tour. The host provided breakfast items that ranged from some pastries to yogurt, as well as coffee and tea. We were all able to find something in order to start the day. This stay combined warmth, generosity, comfort, and unforgettable cultural experiences was amazing. It’s rare to find a place where hospitality feels this personal and sincere. We would return in a heartbeat and recommend it enthusiastically to anyone looking for an extraordinary stay filled with kindness, history, and unforgettable memories.

Positive: Everything about this property was amazing!! The location was perfect, and the house had everything we could possibly want or need, and more! Savio made our stay magical. He is obviously passionate about what he does, and it shows. He shared many amazing places with us, and he made sure we had absolutely everything we needed during our stay! He made us feel like we were visiting family, and we will never forget our visit to Matera and his hospitality.

Positive: A beautiful place to stay and it caters for your every need including a welcoming bottle of wine, best focaccia I’ve ever tasted, a fridge full of breakfast items and cakes and pastries. A real experience to stay in this cave like house that was tastefully decorated and very comfortable. Unbelievable location in a breathtaking town!
Negative: I would have liked to stay longer than 1 night!
