Summary: it appeared to be a very nice and pleasant residence to stay for our 1 week trip to Rome. we liked the fact it was a little outside Rome, although by car, we rented one, it was only 20-30 minutes to the centre of Rome. We prefered to drive and therefore sleep in a quiet surrounding, above the centre of Rome. The house was big and nice and, very important, we slept well. The owners were very friendly and helpfull. Our next stay is definitely in this place again.

Summary: Roman Villa Silj is an outstanding and dazzling place to spend any stay in Rome. We took our eighth-grade students for an educational trip and it proved the perfect location because of its privacy but also connectedness to the city, however I would absolutely return for a private vacation with friends or family. The staff looked after our needs and accommodated some of our weird ones, and also brought us in with warm hospitality and passion for the history and beauty of the location. Highly, highly recommended.

Summary: We visited this villa last October with a group of 16 people and were, quite honestly, disappointed. The listing provided show the best rooms in the property in the best light possible. What is not shown are 2-3 rooms that are very small (one barely had room for the bed) and beds in all the rooms that are consistently pretty old and uncomfortable. The bedroom that we stayed in was actually attached to another room and consisted of two very small twin beds - great for kids, but not for a husband and wife. Luckily, my wife's parents were traveling with us, otherwise the shared living area would have been very uncomfortable. The villa and grounds are older and has some charm and a lot of interesting history (the owner has a wealth of fascinating information and was very helpful), but I would not recommend it for larger groups - especially groups accustomed to nice amenities. It is also far enough from the city of Rome to make for a very long ride home in the evenings. We ended up driving to the nearest train station (as opposed to waiting for the bus) and then took the 20 minute train ride into town. Our group was exhausted every evening and we always got back to the villa very late. Bottom line: the fault was probably on our end in terms of bringing the wrong type of group to this property (8 adult couples looking to explore Rome), but the reality is that if we do it again we will intentionally skip this property and pay for something in the city. Hopefully this review will help someone from making the same mistake.
