Summary: We spent the first week in October at the IHG Continental Malta. We booked last minute and chose this hotel because we had stayed in the IHG Barcelona which was a fantastic hotel. The IHG Malta is a five star hotel but could do with updating in places, its beginning to look worn. The Club Lounge has limited times something which is different from other IHG's. Other than that I have nothing but praise for all of the staff, they are friendly, approachable and most of all helpful. I would like to give a special mention to Njambi in the Cub Lounge. She was a fountain of knowledge and we based our daily trips on the information she gave us about different parts of the island and also Gozo. Be warned this hotel is in the middle of a very noisy area of St Julians, noisy pubs, clubs and party goers, if you like your surroundings quiet this is not the place for you.

Summary: Our stay started with some challenges, but the hotel made every effort to turn things around. Check-in was delayed well past the guaranteed 3 pm time, and by 5 pm we were still waiting to get into our room. After approaching the reception multiple times, we were finally given access, though no one had contacted us directly when the room was ready. Unfortunately, the room’s cleanliness wasn’t up to standard, with hair, crumbs on the floor, and a dirty refrigerator. At this point, I returned to reception and asked if an upgrade was available, even at additional cost. To their credit, the staff handled the situation very well and moved us into a complimentary suite. They also surprised us with champagne in our room to celebrate our anniversary, which was a thoughtful touch. Although we felt that the first day was lost due to these issues, the way the hotel responded made a significant difference. From that point on, our holiday went exactly as we had planned, and we were able to relax and enjoy our stay. Overall, while the start was rocky, the service recovery and gestures from the staff left us with a positive impression.

Summary: I've stayed in a few hotels around St Julian's but this is the first time I've gone as a family with small kids. The staff were excellent, and the breakfast selection in our section was great. Gym facilties are very good, there is a games area for kids with PlayStation, TV and some other games though the arcade machine needs a bit of attention. Room service was really fast, good value for money and surprisingly tasty. The area is very busy and is mainly full of tourists. The is no hotel parking but I was able to find a parking spot everyday within 5 minutes walk which was free. There is a car park next door but I think it is €15 a day. I would definitely recommend it. If you're young the clubs and bars outside are everywhere plus the is the usual western fast food places. 5 stars from me as the kids were happy.

Summary: This hotel is not on the beach as advertised, the beach is down the road and there is barely any stretch of sand. There is only 1 outdoor pool which is always full and its difficult to get sunbeds. The club lounge access gives a seperate breakfast area to the main dining hall but is under staffed so the wait times are long and food options are limited. The hotel is located next to St Julians main party areas so not great for families in the evenings. The hotel service overall is average and more like a 3* hotel. The garden rooms are dated and have constant condensation in the rooms so all the wardrobes and furniture get wet, the staff did nothing about this. Also the bathroom has no safety railing in the shower and my sister slipped and fell on the first day and was badly injured. Again this was reported to the hotel and they offered no help. Would recommend a quieter area for families. Overall would not recommend this hotel unless you have booked a premium suite.
