Ionia Guest House is a rural bed-and-breakfast in Turkey’s Aegean region. Our four rooms are spacious with ensuite bathrooms and private verandas. There’s a shared swimming pool with a large terrace, and a cafe serving local food. The hotel is set in a fig orchard surrounded by olive groves — think of our place as a country oasis where you can rest and recharge.
As seen on TV! For about a year we were filmed for a show called “Our Dream Hotel”, about newcomers to the hotel industry. So far we’ve been seen in the Netherlands, Australia, the UK, Sweden, Canada and New Zealand.
And anyone who saw our TV episode will know that we’re passionate about green building and used 100% local materials to build the hotel. The walls are timber-frame, with straw bales laid out like giant bricks, and then covered in layers of lime plaster. The result is excellent insulation for both temperature and sound.
Our place is just off the route from Ephesus to Pamukkale. It makes a great base for exploring the stunning archaeological sites of the Meander Valley and ancient Ionia, including Priene, Magnesia, Tralleis, and Miletus. We’re also a good choice for visitors interested in local markets, authentic Turkish food, and exploring the natural landscape.

Summary: If we could rate higher than 5 we would. Sirem and Jason were the best possible hosts, generous with their time in helping us plan our days to maximize our sightseeing experience. So many interesting destinations are very close by. They are excellent cooks, and their offerings for breakfast and the evening meal were home cooked Turkish style - a wonderful change from usual restaurant fare, - and was so delicious! The pool is sparklingly clean and beautifully located. Jason and Sirem have had the major hand in building their guesthouse with strawbale construction and Jason has done much of the woodwork and furnishings himself, all with a very pleasing, cohesive architectural style. Jason and Sirem are as generously kind to several rescued cats and a visiting dog, so if you have an aversion or allergy to having pets around, that’s good to know, but we felt it just added to the experience. Our friends describes this as “the best guesthouse in the world”. We have to agree!

Summary: Beautiful location and grounds, thoughtful, well constructed, cozy rooms-we could have stayed here for a month! The pool area was like an oasis. Superb breakfasts, coffee and a dinner. Jason and Sirem were outstanding, warm hosts. Best VRBO that we have ever stayed in. Highly recommend this place especially if you are wanting to see Ephesus and surrounding areas.
