Positive: Quaint little boutique accommodation. Great service with clean, comfortable rooms and outdoor bathroom facilities. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Location is not too far out of Dambulla town with a tuk tuk ride. They were very accommodating with our early morning arrival

Positive: Kandalama Lodge is a delightful boutique hotel and is even better than the photos. So happy we decided to stay for 4 days (we had considered Jetwing Lake and the Heritance) as the hotel is absolutely perfect. My husband and I stayed in the casita with the pool while our daughters were in a two bed room. The rooms and bathrooms are immaculate — the outdoor bathroom exceeded expectations with high end fixtures and no critters even in the middle of the night. We had all meals at the property and the chefs deliver on both Sri Lankan and western food. Super fast wi-fi in the rooms and on the property. The pool and gardens create a relaxing vibe. Wedge, the owner, could not have been a more gracious and helpful host. He and the team arranged transport and local outings to Sigiriya, Minneriya, Dambulla and a spa for massages. Help was always available, if needed. Truly a wonderful place!

Positive: the property is beautifully spread around a set of trees and the pool making nature as a supporting cast member to your stay. there are plenty of birds flitting about and squirrels and they even have 2 pet rabbits hopping about.. the room was ultra clean.. the bathroom was open air and luxuriously so..the service was immaculate.. the food was exceptional.. sithumina and his small team kept us well fed and ably supported where we needed tuktuks or information..
Negative: nothing..the experience was superb

Positive: Could not recommend Kandalama Lodge more highly, our stay was so magical in every way and was the best possible start to our Sri Lankan holiday. The little villas and surrounding gardens were absolutely gorgeous and such a lovely setting to relax in nature in the company of many wild and wonderful animals and birds. Special thanks to all the staff who really went above and beyond to make our stay as comfortable as possible and helped us with everything from excursions, transport and even money exchange. The small number of villas makes the experience feel very personal and private. We had two villas, including the one with the private pool which was very special but a lot of the time we also had the communal pool and garden to ourselves as well. The villas are thoughtfully fitted out and decorated, and feature the most stunning outdoor bathrooms that were a real treat. We also recommend the chef’s Sri Lankan curry set for a dinner feast! Was very hard to leave after our four night stay but hope to return when next in Sri Lanka!

Positive: Very nice boutique hotel with only 5 rooms, it was clean and comfortable with lots of amenities. The staff is what makes this property so great, they’re all extremely nice and it was very appreciated. There’s a tuktuk driver on site (thank you Amila!) who woke up before dawn to takes us places and was very helpful. 15min to Dambulla caves, 30 to sigiriya / pirudangala
Negative: Only little downside is the outside bathroom, while it is beautiful we also had a room that was next to another and the two bathrooms were right next to each other so you can basically hear everything and it doesn’t feel private. Food prices are also a bit high but it is a very touristy area so not a shock, the chef is wonderful!

Positive: Absolutely incredible stay! The hotel is stunning, beautiful spotlessly clean lodges with luxury outdoor bathrooms. It felt like paradise. The staff are incredibly attentive, especially Madushan who was always available to answer any requests we had which made our stay so perfect. It was honestly the best service we have ever had. We also arranged a tuk tuk trip with Amila which was a highlight of our time in Dambulla. As well as taking us to Sigiriya rock he also stopped off at other locations he thought he might enjoy and explained all of the attractions to us. The food was also delicious and the chef’s attention to detail is amazing. They also catered to my gluten free requests which was excellent. Absolutely impeccable service and location. We wish we could have stayed longer! Thank you so much to the whole team.

A special shoutout to Amila, who gave us a fantastic private tour to and from Sigiriya rock in his tuk-tuk - we loved it! And to Madushan, whose friendly nature and genuine interest in our travels around Sri Lanka made our stay even more special. His professionalism was impressive too! The food was also amazing, with both breakfast and dinner showing so much care and attention to detail. We would definitely recommend this place for a perfect relaxing holiday. Positive: The room was lovely and the outside bathroom a unique touch. Walking through the gate to their beautiful well maintained property was a treat and they clearly work hard to keep it looking good. Breakfast was brilliant, best we had in Sri Lanka. Lovely hosts who want the place to be successful and they are working hard to achieve this and give a luxury experience. Would book again!!
Negative: The location is slightly out of town so you need a tuk tuk to get anywhere. This is cheap and they will ring one for you so no great problem.
