Positive: The owner was friendly, the receiptionist and her family made me feel like i was a family member. I was there during the Sakura season, it looked amazing i absolutely recommend to go there.

Positive: The hosts were incredibly welcoming and hospitable — you could see how much care went into running the place. My room had a city view that was lovely, and there was hot toasted rice tea when I arrived. Ikoma itself was very charming . A bit of an effort to get to, but worth it.
Negative: It would have been nice to have a later checkout — 11 instead of 10 would have made a big difference.
Summary: Charming, family-run hilltop ryokan.

Positive: The staff are the nicest people. The futon is heated and has a duvet that is like sleeping under a cloud. The view is beautiful especially at night. The breakfast is traditional Japanese and fantastic. The temple up the street is amazing and best of all it's never crowded. There are a couple of good restaurants a short walk away. And every night we used the bath which was so relaxing. We just loved the experience.
Negative: The house is old so you will see it is dated but we found that charming. It's a bit hard to get to because it's off the beaten path but that's why it's so peaceful.

Positive: It was the best four days in my three weeks visiting in Japan. This ryokan is very cosy. Though everything looked authentic and traditional all the facilities weren't old, but instead very clean an modern. The breakfast was very tasty and there was variety each day. If you don't take the cable car (station is right next to the ryokan) you'll get a good workout each day, when you explore the surroundings - mainly the beautiful temples. There are many stairs! After a day of waking, relaxing in the onsen was the highlight of my day. But the best thing was the very friendly owner and staff. Even though I couldn't speak Japanese they helped me with everything and were really caring. I will definitely be back! :)
Negative: That I couldn't stay longer. :)

Positive: A very quiet place in a nice neighborhood, close to the Hozanji funicular station, and you can get to Toyama station by foot using the stairs for a hundred meters heigh walk. The traditional bedrooms of the Ryokan have a small entrance where you can leave your luggage. Then you can appreciate the size of the room and the view over Ikoma and around. For breakfast, the staff cooks delicious meals for you and each morning you can enjoy different ingredients. An upright piano is in the entrance hall, and if you ask for, you might be allowed to play... It can leads to karaoke sessions with oba-chan, a must-do!
Negative: There are only 2 onsens (japanese baths) and none in the rooms, so you might have to wait before bathing. Even if there are 2 onsens, it is organized so as you enter in one and share it with all your pals, and not like it is frequently seen with male and female onsens only. The toilets and sink are outside the bedroom, in the corridor.
