Summary: The cabin was nice- simple but comfortable beds and clean. A place to sleep that was cosy. The area used to be a wilderness survival training camp so there was some interesting things on the property. There was a lot of space and I enjoyed the isolation. The outdoor kitchen was the problem. It was cluttered with junky boxes, the utensils were terrible ( cheap dollar store purchases or old cutlery from a thrift store would have been a decent improvement-). Some of the dishes were not washed well. The propane 2 burner stove was fine but we had to buy a pan - there were mainly huge pots to hang over a fire and not enough small ones for cooking on a stove. We brought our own little gas BBQ. Plus the coffee press had not been cleaned and it was full of moldy coffee we had to clean out. Being an outdoor kitchen I expect dirt and dust but I felt that it would not have taken much effort to clean the kitchen area adequately - it was kind of gross and I wished I had cleaning products. Maybe that isn’t normally a thing for this type of property but if you advertise an outdoor kitchen it should at least be clean when guests arrive and minimally stocked for cooking. The clutter looked like it could have been organized into plastic bins or moved out of there. There were also stacks of ugly white plastic chairs in the middle of the property - we stacked them beside a nearby building so it looked nicer Despite this, I would consider going back due to the uniqueness of being able to have a nice open space in the woods to be alone and enjoy nature. It was very peaceful, and there is a nice little hike in the roof nearby. I would bring cleaning supplies and more kitchen stuff next time. There was a fire ban but when there isn’t it would be a wonderful place for a campfire.
