Positive: Howth was perfect as we wanted to recharge our batteries in a location close enough to Dublin to allow a short visit to the city. The hotel's location enabled us to have some leisurely walks, including along the three piers. The size of the King Sitric suited us well and made a pleasant change. The hotel itself was maintained to a high standard and the maritime theme expressed itself in a restrained but very balanced and thoughtful manner throughout the building. Our room was immaculate and the bed extremely comfortable. It was lovely to be so close to the sea. The breakfasts were first class. There was plenty of choice and the quality of the ingredients was very good. The kippers were excellent. The dinner menu highlighted the varied local produce, primarily the seafood. Presentation was very good and the food delicious. The staff we met were very friendly and professional. This hotel is highly recommended for a short break away.
Negative: It was lovely to have a sea view although it was slightly marred by some less than sightly buildings. Given the large number of fresh fish suppliers in the town, I would like to have seen a variety of fish on the menu rather than a predominance of shellfish.
