Kingsbay Waterside Retreat House is an elegant, modern, waterfront compound and definitely one of a kind. Located on Maryland's Eastern Shore, Waterside is situated on the peninsula of Coulbourn Creek at the mouth of the Chesapeake Bay just north of Crisfield Maryland. Recently purchased by the owners of Kingsbay Mansion, they bring their hospitality expertise and flair for design to this newly renovated property. This private, modern, wooded compound has breath taking, panoramic waterfront with a 160-foot dock and new in ground swimming pool. Waterside has five spacious bedrooms and three full baths. Kingsbay Cottage is also available to rent separately upon request to add up four additional guests.

This gated, elegant Georgian waterfront estate is one of a kind. Located on Maryland's Eastern Shore, Kingsbay is peninsula on Coulbourn Creek at the mouth of the Chesapeake Bay just north of Crisfield Maryland. It is the largest private home in Somerset County and was designed by Ian McCallum, the architect for Colonial Williamsburg. Built in 1970 on 7 acres and in middle of 500 acres of prime Maryland farmland, this estate offers 11 bedrooms, 10 full baths and 2 half baths. Starting In 2015, Kingsbay Mansion has been transformed into a breathtaking Executive B&B and Private Event Center. Five of its spectacular suites with private baths are being offered as part of the Kingsbay Mansion B&B. The entire estate is available for private functions, corporate events and destination weddings.
There is approximately 2000 feet of shoreline with dock for boating and kayaking. Kingsbay has 13K square feet of living space and boasts a three-story rotunda with a domed skylight and Belgian crystal chandelier. The music hall offers vaulted ceilings, another stunning chandelier, grand piano and large theater organ. The formal living room is designed with a doublewide fireplace and an impressive beamed, crown molded ceiling. The formal dining room has a Chinese Chippendale theme with built-mirrored china cupboards, fireplace and chandelier. Other rooms include the family dining room, breakfast room, lounge bar, rear foyer bar, wood paneled library and more. There are two fully stocked bars and the in-ground Grecian swimming pool with slate deck and fountain with magnificent views of the waterfront and the manicured Japanese gardens. Kingsbay Mansion, Bayhouse, Waterside Retreat Compound, Cottage and the Dockside House, vacation rentals properties are available to rent for any occasion to accommodate up to 44 guests.

Summary: Great place. The owner, Jerry, is very professional and helped enormously via his suggestions and local contacts. The house is very nice and practical, everything is in good shape and working order.

Summary: What a wonderful vacation we had at this beautiful home…all 8 adults, 2 children, and 4 dogs! The house was great, the kitchen was well equipped, and the property was magnificent. We spent the entire week in the pool or fishing from the dock, exactly what we were looking for with COVID still out there. The grocery store is close, and that was really the only time we left the house! Jerry was great, very gracious and pleasant. You can just tell he is a nice person. We enjoyed speaking with him, and he was very responsive to our calls whenever we had questions. The only change we would make would be to add another tv in the room right off the kitchen-we spent a lot of time there. I would suggest that you look at their website, kingsbaymansion.com for more pictures and information. Tomorrow it is back to work at the hospital as Covid again surges. Wish we were back at the Waterside Retreat of Kingsbay……maybe next year! Thank you for making this beautiful home available to us. Betsy and Mike

Summary: We had an amazing family vacation at this beautiful property. The view, the bird watching, and the pool were memorable. The place is updated and well maintained. Check in was great, the host showed us around and talked us through some local highlights. Anytime we had a question or concern the host was VERY responsive and always helped ensure our family was comfortable. We had one challenge and that was wifi access, however, the host provided us mifi which was the best possible solution for the area. When I had a work challenge the host went out of their way to provide a 2nd mifi to ensure no negative impact. In everything I've said the common theme is the GREAT hosts. They went out of their way to make my family comfortable, and you could tell it was important to them that we enjoyed our time. STRONGLY recommend this property!

Summary: Three generations had a wonderful time staying at this waterfront property. We rented kayaks locally and got out on the water every day. The pool was perfect for playing around, and the kitchen had everything we needed. Internet was a little slow, but no more than expected (or forewarned about). There are jellyfish in the bay this time of year, but we just chalked it up to one more wildlife sighting (plus the bald eagles, various water birds, turtles, and frogs).

Summary: Staying here was a wonderful experience! Communication with the owners, Jerry and David, both before and during our stay was excellent. This home is spacious, beautifully decorated, ( shout out to Jerry on that dramatic silver swan chandelier) and comfortable. Great beds, plenty of cookware in the well equipped kitchen. From both levels of the home there are expansive views of Colburn Creek ( a wide estuary). Situated on 4 plus acres the home is very private. There is a large heated pool with a view to the " creek". It is fun to go to the end of the 160ft.dock to survey the area. Being a true lover of birds, I could not have been happier with the variety observed while here. Bald eagles, hawks, three gull species, Anhinga, pelicans, egrets, great blue herons, three woodpecker species, Canada geese, and numerous song birds. While staying here tropical storm Isaias passed through in the night and early morning. Although we were quite safe, there was water on rhree sides of the home, but the lot was obviously planned to handle this type of weather. The storm was over and the water starting to recede by 11am. Debris had been strewn all around the large pool deck area as well as in the pool. But, not to fear, the second the storm was over, David and Jerry were there to clean up everything. The sun came out, the sky was blue and we enjoyed a great pool day. Oh, one day we had kayaks delivered to our door and explored the tributary. We were looking for a private refuge during the pandemic and this Kingsbay Waterfront home was perfect.

Summary: The house provided everything to entertain an age range from 6 to 94. The pool was cleaned often and the pier kept the men busy with fishing and crabing. We were close to Food Lion for those missing essentials and there were plenty of glasses for drinking (very important detail). My special thanks to David who answered every text message and really went the extra mile. Do yourself a favor and take a tour of the mansion and meet Gerry. During this pandemic the family felt safe and carefree. Thanks again for a lovely memory.
