Positive: Absolutely gorgeous place. Ended up extending our trip. This is an area which has thankfully been untouched by rapid and vapid development. The views of Himalayas were amazing. The location is a 8 kms drive from Jageshwar and Vrid Jageshwar intersection. The road is well connected and drive is pleasurable. I was looking for an off-beat quaint location and Kasar Devi( which I loved when I first went there a few years ago) seemed commercial. At Kot Kailash we were welcomed by the nature. With the comforts of a boutique and cosy homestay. Also, we felt a personal touch at Kot Kailash. Had engaging conversations with Pushkar, who had been a wonderful host having an incredible Kumaoni knowledge which translated to yummy local food. ( Read- do not miss the local Kumaoni Dal or the Banofee Pie). His love for coffee meant you can always ask for one :). One of the days went for a nearby trail with Pushkar. Incidentally other guests also joined and it ended up being a good bond over travel, nature and sharing knowledge. With a negligible AQI the location was spot on and we hope to revisit it sometime during the winters. Curious to see how the forest will look like in the snow :)

Positive: Superb location, isolated with beautiful views. Staff is really good and professional. It's a very old property very well separated. Really loved it and will definitely visit again.

Negative: it's not a complaint, just suggestion that the Food could have been better and washrooms could get better in terms of the toilet seat space and leakage in the basins, also the shower was leaking

Positive: Kot Kailash exceeded my expectations in many ways. The location was beautiful. The staff excellent. The food was very good - home cooked and served with love. A special mention about the coffee and tea - both of which were par excellence. The rooms are prepared with care. They are furnished with lots of books and articles to provide the true Kumaoni touch. The staff went all out to make the stay comfortable and pleasing. It's a unique homestay experience which both of us found very rejuvenating.

Positive: The location of Shaokiyatha is surreal. The best part is that there is a trail from the homestay till the Jageshwar dham temple. It’s a perfect downhill trail of 5km. The view at night of the valley from the first floor living area is beautiful. We stayed on the first floor and had access to two rooms and a living area all to us. There are three lovely canine friends that give you company. Food was very good and homely and also reasonable. It was a memorable stay and definitely one we would want to plan again in future.

Negative: So in the room description it says Private bathroom (which means a bathroom that needs to be accessed from outside the room). While in the property description it mentioned it’s an en-suite bathroom (which means the entry to the bathroom is from the room itself). So that creates a bit of confusion. Nonetheless apart from that it was a pleasant stay and we would visit again.

Summary: Lovely stay in a proper Kumaoni house with Private Bathroom (access to bathroom is from outside the room)
