Positive: We stayed in the "glamping" cottage with two people last month, and I so wish we'd had the time for more than a night! The area surrounding Kotatuli Forest Lodge is stunning and quiet. We booked an excursion on horseback as we're both experienced riders, and it was absolutely magical to experience the forest in deep snow. We came to Rovaniemi for the nature, not the Christmas kitsch, so this place was exactly what we were looking for. The cottage was cozy, warm, and perfectly private. We covered our own dinner in the main house, which was absolutely no problem. The dogs were great cuddle buddies and there was plenty of space in the common area for us alongside the other guests and staff working the property. The cottage itself had everything needed to cover our comforts for the night, and probably even a longer stay if our itinary had allowed for it. I'm very tempted to book this again for a better shot at the aurora - it was overcast all week, but we did catch a glimpse on our trainride back to Helsinki! - or to see the area in summer.

Positive: We were looking for silence and nature, but we found so much more! A fairytale-like landscape and wonderful people made us fall in love with and truly appreciate the real Lapland. Joni and Katja are truly special people, and the love they have for their home and your animals can be felt from the very moment you arrive. Everything was perfect from beginning to the end: an authentic and immersive experience that we will hardly ever forget. Sauna and activities are amazing. We loved everything.

Positive: We went in December, and it was wonderful. The house is very cozy and warm, and it is placed in a idyllic setting, near a frozen lake. The owners and staff are very friendly and helpful, and we felt very welcome there. Their dogs are very friendly and playful, and they also have horses. We also had a barbecue in the kota and we used the sauna (complete with ice dipping). Even though it was very cold outside, it was always warm inside, and the atmosphere was very relaxing. We truly recommend this place for a very authentic winter visit.
