Summary: This place was amazing. Not only a perfect getaway from Paris for a week, but an inspiration. So many nice details in the house you can tell Kate and Philippe really care about the guests’ experience. And the whole property was fun to explore, from the pet rabbits, the fruit trees, tennis court and of course, the pool! Will absolutely go back.

Summary: I have stayed in dozens of Homeaway rentals, and many vacation rentals with other companies, and this is the best, ever. We have found nice accommodations, stylish accommodations, and great hosts, but they all come together here. Kate Ackroyd is a fabulous host--never obtrusive, yet working to keep us occupied with new delights daily. The grounds are lovely and extensive. We enjoyed walking in the large enclosed park, swimming in the pristine pool, and relaxing on the terrace with the view of the park and tennis court. The hosts have thought of everything. We stayed in the larger gite, private, very stylish, impeccably designed and equipped. They have thought of their guests' comfort and pleasure with every detail--from the decor to the linens to the lighting to the USB outlets that supplement the electrical outlets. After 7 weeks of 4-10 day rentals on this trip, we were thrilled to find the perfect bed, great shower, and high-quality furnishings. If anything, the photos do not do justice to the space. it is lovely, whimsical, comfortable, and immaculately clean. We hope to return to enjoy their hospitality and talents when we return to France. My husband likes to cook so we did not sample any of Ms. Ackroyd's award-winning meals ( we did sample some of her delicious sweets). We took day trips to Chartres and Illiers-Combray. Chartres is a lovely small city with much to offer in addition to the stunning cathedral and Illiers-Combray offers a small Proust museum and the feel of the world of young Marcel. Anet is close by, so there is plenty to explore in the region. This charming spot will linger in our memories as among the very best rentals we have stayed in and Kate Ackroyd's hospitality is matchless. Go!

Summary: We had a wonderful stay in the beautiful 'Maison Oiseaux'. As the first renters of this beautifully decorated house we truly felt indulged because of the great hospitality of Kate and Philippe. Our two kids (6 and 3) enjoyed this relaxed hideaway in the countryside and loved the pool, animals and all the space in the park/gardens. Paris is only a 1-1,5 hours drive. Breakfast prepared by Kate in the big kitchen was great, as was the fantastic dinner she cooked. The kitchen of the house was also equipped with good stuff (e.g. Le Creuset pans and a great new Weber BBQ). The beds were great. We will certainly come back and are looking forward to our next stay.
