La Chamille is a stylish and comfortable three bedroom stone cottage located on the outside of the main courtyard at La Cannonerie. Big open plan ground floor with modern kitchen and windows overlooking beautiful countryside. Seating area with plenty of soft furniture and feature fireplace with wood burning stove. Tumbled travertine floor with stone walls makes this a stylish family retreat. Upstairs there are two Kingsize bedrooms and a twin room all with a bright and modern feel and great views over the vines. Bedlinen is provided. There is also a modern family bathroom with bath, separate shower, WC, handbasin and heated towel rail. English television channels.
La Cannonerie was built in 1826 and incorporates parts of a medieval hunting lodge believed to have been built by Francois 1st. All of our cottages are stylish and comfortable and the perfect location to relax and enjoy a fabulous french holiday.
Located in the stunning Petite Champagne Cognac region there are no immediate neighbours and guests can relax and enjoy the large 14x6m heated swimming pool and terrace with its commanding views across vines and rolling French countryside. About an hour from the beautiful beaches of the coast, Meschers, St Palais and the famous islands of Re and Olereon meaning that La Cannonerie is the perfect location for day trips to either the beach or one of the many other places of interest including Bordeaux, St Emilion, Cognac, Angouleme, La Rochelle and Saintes. The English owners have an eye of design and have created modern interiors without detracting from the traditional stone exteriors. A perfect holiday destination for you to relax and unwind.

Summary: A wonderful week at La Cannonerie in Reaux. Our accommodation was a brilliant mix of glorious old sympathetically renovated to a five star standard with every modern amenity designed to make home away from home a real joy. The pool was lovely and the Loggia provided a quiet escape for reading or a game of table tennis if an energy burst needed dissipating! Our hosts were so gracious and provided up to date information on everything we might want to do and explore in the surrounding area. There is so much to do and see that we will happily book again to continue the adventure. We will also highly recommend La Cannonerie to all our friends, family and colleagues.

Summary: We thoroughly enjoyed staying at La Connerie. It is a wonderful country property ideally situated for exploring the Cognac region, but Bordeaux, Rochefort and the beaches are all within day-trip reach. The cottages were cool in the summer heat and the swimming pool warm and inviting, making a day not sight-seeing peaceful and relaxing. We can thoroughly recommend a visit!

Summary: We had a fabulous holiday at La Cannonerie. The Gite Was a real home from home, wonderfully converted and very comfortable. The pool and Loggia were perfect and our 2 sons had a great time with the other kids they met. Everything was thought of and the owners made us feel really welcome. This is by far the nicest accommodation we have stayed at in France and our only regret is we didn't book for another week. We were also impressed with the services recommended; the beauty salon in the village is a real find and the bike hire was so easy. Also, the cycle ride to the Bertrand Wilson distillery was a real highlight of the holiday ( as was the tasting!)

Summary: My husband and I, and two young children, spent one week at La Cannonerie over Easter. The 'gite' exceeded our expectations with its stylish open plan living area, new fully equipped kitchen, dining area, and sofas in front of a wood burning stove, which we lit on a couple of evenings. The bedrooms are very comfortable, with nice linen and soft duvets which, along with the toiletries provided, gave it that 'hotel feel'. The hosts live on site so were available to answer any questions, and had even left some books and toys in the gite for our children to play with, which was a lovely touch. They gave us some good tips for family days out. We visited the beautiful coastline north of St Palais sur mer, and the charming town of Jarnac. We can thoroughly recommend!

Summary: We have just returned from staying at La Cannonerie and what a wonderful surprise it was. An easy (hour) drive from Bordeaux with great directions - no problem finding the place. We stayed in no. 7 and it was great in every way. Beautifully decorated, great living space and lovely big bedrooms, not to mention the great appliances (just ordered a washing machine like theirs). The surroundings around the property are magical and the views from the pool are exceptional. There is loads of space for the kids to charge around too. The hosts were fantastic, even when our 4 year old threw-up and we needed some extra bedding. They gave us lots of sight seeing suggestions and advice on eating out. We loved the area on the occasions we managed to drag ourselves away. Jonzac has the most beautiful walks along the river with an amazing swimming lake nearby as well as an indoor water park (if the weather is against you). We also visited the zoo at Palmyre (much nicer than Bordeaux zoo), a big hit and a really great day out. There are some great places to visit/lunch on the way or way back. La Cannonerie is great for any kind of holiday, brilliant with kids and I can imagine rather blissful without too! We are trying to rebook for later on in the year and take another family with us. We will be back... Soon!
