Positive: A very friendly welcome, comfortable bed and pillows, spacious room.
Negative: We stayed for two nights, to our surprise the room wasn’t cleaned daily given the price point. We were provided plenty of shower gel bottles, however no hand soap or shampoo and after asking a few times we just received more shower gel, as well as more hair caps. It’s an inconvenience and certainly not a major issue, but indeed dampers the impression. On Friday there was no one available in the office, and as we were enjoying the cave pool/sauna the electric fuse went out and we found no one on site to fix that issue. The restaurant downstairs is not part of the hotel, although recommended for dinner, it occupies the courtyard so there’s no common area for the guests of the hotel, nor is there a terrace.

Positive: The hotel is charming with stone walls and wood beams throughout. The hot tub and sauna/spa is located in the original cave of the building. There are lockers, changing rooms and a bathroom in the spa as well. The hotel owner/manager is wonderful and very helpful.
Negative: There are several things guests should be aware of in advance. First, access to all rooms Is up a steep spiral staircase. Anyone with mobility issues should be aware of this. Second, the town's church clocktower rings all night (once on the half hour and full bells each hour ALL NIGHT) I am a very heavy sleeper and it woke me up every time.
Summary: Charming hotel but several negatives that would prevent us from returning.

Positive: This property was such a delight suprise! The sauna in the basement cave was an amazing touch. The town of Cucuron is so magical even in November. Staff was amazing and so nice! Had such a lovely time here.

Positive: We had a nice room, good size, but nothing standout. We appreciated having drinks in the fridge provided for us and loved the grotto spa! It does look like the pictures and feels very luxurious. The owner's son was very friendly and helpful with excellent English.
Negative: Unfortunately, the things we liked were overshadowed by the cost of the room - 240€ for the night! For that price, we should have had a much better experience. If you sat on the edge of the bed, it would completely collapse underneath your weight and I woke up with an aching back in the morning because of the lack of mattress support. The owner's son gave us a raving review of the breakfast at the onsite restaurant and we found it completely underwhelming - a croissant each, coffee and some cold ham and cheese. I asked if I could have some eggs and was told no. 15€ for a cold cut breakfast did not cut it! We ended up going to the town boulangerie for cakes, coffee and pastries for around the same price. Lastly, we are on our honeymoon and upon arrival were told we could have a complimentary bottle of champagne to celebrate! We were so excited. When we asked for the champagne, this was explained as a mistake and we could only have it as an 'extra' for 50€. We understand this was a miscommunication, but it did dampen our experience at the hotel overall. In town, locals told us the hotel is too expensive and that's why it's practically empty. Lesson learned.
