Positive: A truly special place. The building is fabulous, the rooms are large, airy and comfortable with amazing views of the grounds and the vineyards beyond. The staff could not do enough for us (even offering to send a member of staff to rescue us in their own car from the rural train station that we mistakenly thought we would be able to get a cab from). The food is exceptional.

Positive: Fantastic hotel and amazing service. They made us feel really at home and the grounds were beautiful. On the first night we were late arriving and they made up a nice dinner and some lovely wine to have in our room. This showed us the high level of service from the start. Very impressed

Dinner was really good with professional and accurate service. Positive: Breakfast - Fabulous local produce freshly cooked. Fresh juices prepared upon request and a large choice of food available. Afternoon Tea and Dinner were exceptional. Nothing too much trouble to ensure we had a wonderful time.

Positive: Gorgeous Chateau, friendly & knowledgeable staff, excellent dinner & breakfast. The room was lovely - clean, comfortable with beautiful views of the grounds. Electric bikes to borrow, nice trails through wineries. They even have a heated pool and fitness center!

Positive: La Maison d'Estournel is a small 14 bedroom Chateau which feels very special and intimate. Everything happens in one space the reception/bar are centrepiece in the dining room. The feeling is warm and welcoming with the most charming and helpful staff. The food was spectacular and the breakfast one of the best with healthy nuts, seeds, and everything else one could want! I would love to go back and spend longer as we only had one night. Dinner was exceptional with the most delicious wine. Pool area also great.
Negative: The menu for lunch and dinner the same with a couple of extra specials in the evening. Perhaps a couple of different options would be good.
Summary: Fabulous a special intimate hotel, with exceptional food, wine and the most charming helpful staff.

Positive: Beautiful location, nice garden, friendly staff
Negative: Price/quality. We’ve stayed at similar places for far less money. The staff is friendly but tend to forget things so if after waiting for say a coffee for quite some time, you have to remind them. The rooms are pretty small, albeit nicely decorated. There’s hardly any space, wardrobes etc to put your clothes. Maybe sufficient if you’re only staying one night, but even then. Limited choice on the dinner.
Summary: This could be a little heaven on earth, but sadly isn’t.
