Summary: Our first holiday to Dordogne, France was perfect. We originally booked "Petite Maison" however we were upgraded to "The Grange" another adjacent property, which exceeded all our expectations! On our arrival we were greeted by Jules, Eddie & Hovis (their lovely dog), We were showed around the Gite and both Jules & Eddie a very friendly couple provided us with useful & helpful information about "The Grange and local amenities. The Grange is a large spacious gite, well equipped with all fixtures & fittings. The outside area consisted of a large lawn,BBQ,Swimming pool & Patio. We spent every day eating al fresco. To sum up our holiday in Dordgne was a dream holiday everything we had hoped for and better! We do have one suggestion though due to the high temperature during our stay a welcome addition would have been a portable electric fan for the bedrooms. I would definitely recommend this property for a awesome holiday in Dordogne. Also went to the market in Pieguit and a meal at the Green Frog as suggested by Eddie & Jules.

Summary: We had a wonderful week in this traditional yet very comfortable house in the gorgeous countryside of the Perigord Nord. The owners were attentive, and very helpful but also discreet - there when we needed information or any assistance; providing invaluable local know how - but we also were completely private with own pool, property and terrace. The house is very spacious and well serviced with broadband, dvds, outside furniture - we loved it As well as the pool at the property, a lake 2kms away has a very nice beach, restaurants and life guards......it's really great, and a big bonus in such a tranquil location. Once a week there is a community "farmers" market where local produce is cooked and sold with benches and locals and tourist coming together for the evening. Really great experience. St Estephe is a 1 km walk - and has a really nice bar and antique shop. Great for a coffee or a glass of wine. The house has bikes and a 2 or 3 k cycle takes you to other villages - and a short drive in the car brings you,to good supermarkets.....although you will probably want to visit the markets in the nearby villages We are a family of five - with kids aged 16,14,9 and would really recommend this as a place to spend some quiet time in the countryside Thanks Julie, Eddie and Hovis (the dog) for letting us stay and being such a pleasure to deal with. Hope to see you again soon Cormac, Pat and Family ( Dublin)

Summary: The property was spotlessly clean with excellent facilities and set up with everything you need. A fabulous location looking out onto a beautiful lake. Located in a rural position within a hamlet, only a short distance from the village with a boulangerie for your morning bread and croissants! A beach and lake with free kayaking is only a 5 min drive or a bike ride away, which has fabulous facilities for eating, drinking, walking, swimming, picnicing, beach volleyball, tennis and sunbathing! The private pool however at the property is fabulous, well maintained and clean with a lovely BBQ area. We had the most amazing week and my only regret was that we weren't staying longer. Doreen and Tony are just the perfect owners. Their property is behind the farmhouse and are incredibly friendly and helpful in every way, from recommending restaurants and activities, as well as booking for you to providing good company for a game of boules, although they are never intrusive and are there if you want them as much or as little as you require. The holiday was superb made better by all open space and sports set up on the land belonging to the farmhouse, including boules, volleyball, badminton and football! However, the most amazing experience for the family, particularly my son, was the field archery offered by tony! It really was the icing in the cake for our holiday! Tony is a superb archery and offers supervised and instructed archery sessions at your request. My son really loved and spent many hours with a now in hand! This was only made better by tony offering to take us with him on his shooting days in the woods! My don and husband had an absolutely superb day in Tony's very good and experienced company! What a holiday! My children both had a ball and want to return, asking if we could book next year before we even left! We will definitely be returning! It was a fabulous location for cycling, karting, walking, swimming, eating out, as well as enjoying the traditional French markets. Also close to towns and cities and many venues for day trips such as a trip to the Nontron knife making factory, castles, chateaus, canoeing down the Dronne River and much much more. We as a family with a 14 and 13 year had an amazing, relaxing and fun packed holiday! We whole heartedly recommend a stay here. Fabulous holiday! Thank you Doreen and Tony :-)

Summary: We stayed at Les Casaniers for a wonderful two weeks. The property was really well suited to our group of two families, and there was plenty of space for everyone. The house was extremely comfortable and very well equipped, particularly the kitchen. There is a wonderful balcony 'sipping gallery', perfect for watching the occasional storms or the local wildlife - deer, herons and buzzards, though we sadly didn't spot the non indigenous family of capybara! The private pool was very well maintained and very well used. Because the property was so very lovely we spent a lot of time there, and cooked and barbecued rather than going out. We had one meal at the nearby Auberge and then wished we had taken Doreen's advice about the farm restaurant instead. Doreen and Tony are wonderful hosts, around and accessible but never intrusive, and provided loads of useful information from market days to walking and running routes. A good activity nearby is canoeing from Brantome down the Dronne although my vision of drifting slowly downstream was complete nonsense and it was really hard work. I would love to go back to Les Casaniers and would recommend it wholeheartedly. A fantastic place.

Summary: Lovely accomodation in a beautiful area. Loved exploring the surrounding countryside. One of the best locations I have had in France as it was rural but near enough to shops, cafes and the local lake to walk Pool was great and managed to get in most days.Weather was mainly good although a bit more rain than usual for the time of year. The gite had everything you could need and Doreen always on hand if we needed anything. Would go back and would definately recommend.

Summary: This delightful property offered everything we had hoped for from its holiday let description - and more! The accommodation was spacious and extremely well-equipped and the friendly owners had provided many little touches which helped to make the stay special - from a jar of delicious homemade jam and a bottle of local wine on the table when we arrived, to a bumper box of toys for our two little grandchildren to enjoy. Inside, the property offered very comfortable living space and bedrooms. Outside, the barbecue area/patio was placed next to a bank of lavenders which not only smelled heavenly but attacted the most beautiful butterflies we have ever seen. There was a large, safe, enclosed garden area and private swimming pool (with a variety of floaties included!) in which the children took their first swimming strokes. The area is tranquil and attractive, offering easy access to many interesting and historic locations whilst being itself slightly off the main tourist track. The nearby (5 mins) lake of St Estephe has lots of attractions including a lovely sandy beach, warm water for swimming and an ideal paddlng area for the little ones. The historic market town of Nontron is 15 minutes away, with its fantastic local market, shops and restaurants. The Grand Hotel Pelisson in Nontron has superb food, friendly service and a lovely restaurant terrace overlooking its pool. 15 miles away, Brantome is a beautiful medieval town with opportunities for canoe trips on the Dronne which are great fun, and you don't have to be an expert to enjoy them. Further afield are Sarlat and the other attractions of the Dordogne. We had a lovely stay in July 2009 with our daughter and son-in-law and two small grandchildren. We would certainly go back and would recommend it without hesitation to other holiday makers looking for relaxation and comfort in this lovely part of France.

Summary: We spent a week at the cottage for our honeymoon in October 2009....we were not disappointed! The size of accomodation was far more than two adults and a baby needed, the swimming pool enticed my husband (but not me!) and the wood burner was great for chilly October evenings. The owners were always on hand if anything was needed and gave great recommendations on local restaurants/ days out. The surrounding area is very lovely and we managed to travel as far as Sarlat for the day. As far as the cottage goes we would recommend it to anyone. The only area for improvement would be to add some mirrors to the main bedroom, as image conscious brits do like to see what they look like before they venture out! Our overall tip would be to visit the goat farm (ask Doreen) as the food was amazing!

Summary: This was the second year running that we have stayed at Doreen and Tonys loverly holiday homes and again we were not disapoited. In a very peaceful location, you can just relax by the pool or just five minutes away is the loverly lake and beach of St Estephe. The owners are very helpful with any problems you might have or to give advice as to ware to go.The property is very clean and lives up to its billing. There are numurous restaurants near by and Doreen will evan book these for you,but if you dont fancey driving we would greatly recommend letting Doreen cook your meal for you,our meal was superb!!We could go on and on but i think the fact that we have already booked again foy 2010 says alot.
