Positive: This is a beautiful property set in extensive grounds overlooking the river. The room was comfortable and clean. It was extremely hot on the days we were there so the shutters were closed most of the time to keep cool making the room dark. There was coffee and tea in the room. The breakfast was beautifully presented and was a basic continental breakfast. Catherine the owner and her husband were lovely and could not do enough for you. Also the pool is beautiful and a welcome relief from the heat.
Negative: Thee room was very warm due to the high temperatures and the need to keep the window shutters closed. The decoration in the room was very interesting but may not be to everyone’s taste.
Summary: A very pleasant stay in a lovely location. In the end we had to leave early due to the heat in the room which very unco

Positive: Marvellous quiet place just next to the river with fabulous rooms. Beautiful garden with a clean and very nice swimming pool. Helpful staff.
Negative: No shower to stand in, as a tall guy (190cm) bathtubs isnt my thing.

Positive: La Ribiere d’Or is the most beautiful house in a fabulous position right on the banks of the river. We had a wonderful time and Mme Fournel and her husband could not have been more charming or helpful. We loved staying there.

Positive: The property is superb and well worth a visit. The owners have taken great care to decorate it in a wholly unique and enchanting manner, it paints the picture of Miss Haversham's house prior to the day of her marriage, in Great Expectations. Our host's were an absolute joy and made our stay extremely comfortable.
Negative: The traditional French breakfast of croissant, breads and coffee was very good but as an Englishman (and a general observation) a little more variety would have been great.
Summary: A home I would readily visit again, there was so much to see & absorb, our hostess was enchanting.

Positive: Located just 10Kms from Bergerac the house, which is more like a small chateau, is very picturesque. It has beautiful gardens which huge 300 year old trees and is on the banks of the Dordogne. For good measure they have a small swimming pool in the garden. The location is very private and tranquil. Overall an idyllic setting. The house is hugely different from any place we have ever stayed before. It’s like being brought back in time to the era when French Chateau’s were in their prime. Eclectic, with some wonderful wall paper and furnishings. The bed was very comfortable. The bathroom had a lovely bath so ideal if you wished to have a nice relaxing soak after a long day. All toiletries were provided. The hosts could not be nicer. Chaterine and her husband were very helpful recommending restaurants and local points of interest etc. You could see they were extremely proud of their house. They also had an extremely friendly cat and dog which was a nice touch. Breakfast was French style but plenty of tea/coffee, fruit etc. Thank you Chaterine, we really enjoyed our stay.
Negative: Nothing really. The property is just 10Kms from Bergerac. I would recommend that you have a car to enjoy the locality. Folks who go for more of a minimalistic style may not enjoy the house as much as we did.
Summary: Just so different from any place we have previously stayed!

Positive: Beautiful tranquil hideaway with its own river plot.. Lots of surprises as you enter a real artistic gem of a home. The hosts make you very welcome and delight in sharing their pride and joy with you. Breakfast is an experience in itself, being British it felt like I had been transported back to Victorian times in a good way, I am sure there is a French equivalent. Thank you for a real unique experience.

Positive: A magical stay in a very special place. The property is absolutely beautiful, with views over the gardens and the Dordogne. Catherine and her husband were very attentive hosts and nothing was too much trouble. All rooms were beautifully and artistically furnished. We would thoroughly recommend a stay here. Cannot wait to go back!
