Positive: The welcome we received and the beautiful hidden gem of a garden filled with the scent of jasmine. The host was also very accommodating and guided us to the start of the voie verte next morning so we could continue our cycle trip. It was also within easy walking distance of the town centre.

Positive: This was the perfect place for us, a short walk into the City 10 mins. La Salamandre was a little haven to come back to after a day out, it had such a relaxing, quirky vibe and our host was lovely and welcoming. We would recommend paying for breakfast, it was a nice way to start the day and go and take some time to sit outdoors in their garden area.... the smell of the jasmine was just wonderful. There are plenty of restaurants nearby to eat. We really enjoyed our stay (we booked the superior suite) well worth it if it's in budget.

Negative: There wasn't anything we didn't like... but did get a little surprise at learning there is no toilet door in the room... it is simply partitioned off! We stayed in the superior suite which is worth it for the views outside.

Positive: Great location, a 5 mins walk to bus stop. Close to the town centre where have many shops and restaurants. Clean beddings and firm mattress.

Negative: I read the previous reviews about the very kind and friendly owner. Unfortunately I didn’t feel that at all. The owner contacted me several times about my arrival time although I had informed him clearly when I made the booking. I received a text messages for asking my arrival time again after I landed at the airport. I replied that I would arrive at the property after about 30 mins. However, when I arrived at the hotel, the owner looked shocked about my arrival- it seemed he didn’t know anything about my booking and my arrival. Also, no friendly greeting but just a poker face. What even worse was that he allocated me a small standard room instead of the bigger family room that I booked and had already paid for. Until I questioned it, he changed me to the bigger room. The room size was big enough but the furnitures appeared worn. There was no hairdryer in the room. I went to the reception asked for it and no one there apart from a lady was talking on phone. I wasn’t sure whether she was the stuff or guest, then I waited there for about 10mins. The lady saw me waiting there, and said she wasn’t a staff. However, the next morning I saw her in the breakfast room and the owner introduced she was his wife. 🤦🏻‍♀️ Really wired and unpleasant experience, very disappointed and won’t stay again.
