Positive: We stayed last week and it was awesome! The accommodation and owners are both amazing. The host is very hospitable and helpful. It’s very rural however that is what we wanted, right on the lake too! Highly recommend the dinner the host cooks, it was our favourite meal of the trip - the kotthu particularly. Also recommend the early morning safari, where we were lucky enough to see a leopard.
Negative: Only thing we would change would be to have a kettle in the room / small fridge to have tea/coffee in the morning, however the host would fix us up with tea and fruit whenever asked, so other than that we loved it! Thank you so much.

Positive: I cannot recommend Lake Face Cabana enough. We stayed here only for one night and we were heartbroken to leave. The cabanas are a dream, gorgeous interior with a big balcony to take in the stunning surroundings. Even if it rains, it’s the perfect place to relax and unwind with a cup of tea and a book. Our host Dee made the stay even more special, she is so warm and kind - and her daughters are both so cute and polite. We ate dinner and breakfast in the communal outdoor eating area and they were both delicious, dinner was one of the best we’ve had on our trip around the country. When we come back to Sri Lanka, we’ll be back Lake Face Cabana and certainly for more than one night! Thank you so much, Dee.

Positive: It was our best accommodation and stay in Sri Lanka! You sleep in a kind of tree house in the middle of the nature which makes is to an extraordinary experience. The owners are the most lovely people we have ever met! They welcomed us in the best way we could imagine. Their hospitality 11/10, their dinner and breakfast they cooked was more than tasty. There is nothing you could complain about. Concerning negative comments we suggest to read the description carefully. We just fell in love with the family and were sad to leave them…

Positive: We had an unforgettable stay at this charming accommodation near Yala National Park in Tissamaharama. The property, run by an utmost warm-hearted young couple, has three cozy wooden cabanas, two of which overlook a peaceful lake that’s a paradise for birdwatchers. The husband, who built the cabanas himself, is constantly working to enhance their comfort. His wife, the English-speaking heart of the family business, is a great cook who spoiled us with delicious meals, always attentive to our needs. She also loves plants and has a marvelous garden that adds to the peaceful atmosphere. The nature surrounding this place is stunning: the lake is home to countless birds, water monitors, and even the occasional crocodile. Staying here felt like being welcomed into a family. They even offered us free rides to see the local flying foxes - such a memorable experience - and helped us book an incredible safari with Janaka Safari Jeep Tours. The couple strikes the perfect balance between being available for interesting conversations about life in Sri Lanka and respecting our privacy when we wanted time to ourselves This is truly a special place run by the most kind, hardworking couple with two adorable daughters. If you're looking for a beautiful, friendly, and authentic stay close to nature, we couldn’t recommend it more!

Positive: Fantastic stay, great room with a view, with a feeling that you are right inside a national park. Our host & family was extremely helpful, taking us on a motorcycle ride to a nearby tree area at sundown to observe thousands of herons and bats. A true spectacle. He was also helpful with organising our trip to Yala national park, which is a must do in the area. Afterwards my wife turned sick (for other reasons) and our hosts were immediately supporting us in every way possible. Not only did she recover but we truly enjoyed our stay at Lake Face Cabana.

Positive: This was our favourite place to stay in Sri Lanka! The family who runs this is unbelievably kind and helpful and it was such a relaxing stay. The rooms are beautiful, surrounded with gorgeous gardens. We loved the crocodile who would visit each morning and evening (from a safe distance). An absolute oasis!! Will be recommendeding to anyone who visits Sri Lanka.
