The perfect getaway for those looking for a combination of lake fun and nature but don't want to drive hours up north! And yes, pets are welcome!! 3 bedrooms, 2 full baths - two kayaks and a fishing canoe for renter use anytime, and a 20ft pontoon on-site available for daily or weekly rentals!
Located only 1 hour from Detroit, this 3 bedroom 2 bathroom home is on all sports lake Big Fish Lake and sits in the middle of the Ortonville State Recreation Area. It is surrounded by 5,400 acres of state land that includes multiple lakes and ponds, equestrian trails, hiking trails, shooting range and more! Home has almost 100 feet of Lake Frontage that includes a dock for boats, there’s also a State Park directly across the lake with a boat launch, beach, picnic areas and volleyball courts.
Recently built in 2017, this home can sleep up to 6 people. It features a large walkout deck, large bedrooms and two full bathrooms. Includes everything you need for a week or two of vacation! Bring your boat to enjoy wakeboarding, skiing or tubing or have a seat at the TIKI bar. Please note that the third bedroom is in the basement (which itself is unfinished just FYI but the bedroom is completely updated)
Wonderful escape outside of the city but still only 20 from downtown Oxford or lovely Lapeer if you want to hit a restaurant or brewery.
Also a great spot for Sportsman looking for a place to hunt or fish in the fall! Great fishing on Big Fish and surrounding lakes. Whitetail Deer and duck hunting is amazing throughout the State Land. It's like being Up North but without the drive!
Open to negotiating short term monthly stays as well during off season.
Please note that our family uses this often as well so it does have a “lived in” feel, so if you’re looking for something that’s brand new and spotless like a hotel, it might not be the best fit  We also allow and love our pets so there’s always some dog hair around. If that bothers you, again no hard feelings!
Please take care of our home like it was your own  You will notice that there are many belongings that we leave here as well, so there’s usually always things in the cupboard, garage, boathouse, etc. Feel free to use whatever you would like as long as you return it!

Summary: My family and I really enjoyed our week at Jeff's place. The lake was great. The neighbors (Leonard and Kathy) were wonderful. The place was very nice and clean. Jeff also communicated with us many times to make sure our needs were being met. We would definitely recommend this place!

Summary: Jeff's place was very spacious with rooms large and huge walk in closets! The view of the lake was great from the deck and the grandkids enjoyed the shallow waters to play in. Jeff was easy to communicate with and answered our requests immediately. He went above and beyond to make our visit successfull. Stores for needed supplies were a short drive away through some beautiful tree lined roads. Would stay again when in Michigan for get togethers.

Summary: Comfortable and spacious--will definitely stay here again. We really enjoyed driving/fall colors. Our only suggestion would be to include a few recommendations or brochures for dining, entertainment, sightseeing. Owner is easily reached and friendly.

Summary: This was a beautiful home with all the amenities. The view was breathtaking. The neighbors were all very nice and welcoming. The area by the lake was great for hanging out and relaxing. This home was very spacious and with 5 adults were never felt crowed. We had to contact the owner once and they were very gracious. We had a wonderful time and would highly recommend this property.
