The entire property is meticulously maintained, quiet and serene. Pull up in front of Cottage #2 (look for the cheerful white shutters!) and you'll find a cozy respite, perfect for a family or a couple looking for a romantic Northern Michigan escape. Cottage #2 features two bedrooms, one with a queen bed and the other two twin beds. The single bathroom has a shower stall, single sink and toilet. GUESTS MUST SUPPLY THEIR OWN SHEETS, TOWELS, as well as paper products. Brew your morning coffee in the cozy kitchen while you look over the calm morning lake. Step onto the patio where you'll find a picnic table and gas grill awaiting your first cookout. Summary: What a great place to stay! The cabin was clean and stocked full of everything you need for your stay. Plenty of room for my 2 daughters and I. Out front is a patio with chairs, picnic table and a grill. It was a short walking distance to the beach with clear water. Bring you floats, paddle board or even your kayaks!!! Only complaint is that the shower was cold and didn’t seem to warm up but the sink in the kitchen had lots of hot water. Other than that we had no problems at all!!

Summary: This cottage was great for our family four. It was clean and comfortable and the outdoor area is well landscaped and maintained. The only downside for us was the harbor area is a tight fit and getting in and out wasn’t the easiest. Once out on the water though it was great. We intend to return for sure.

Summary: Very comfortable, nice beach right out front, fun boating in lake with lots of sandbars. Owner very responsive to calls. Don’t bring a big boat, as the docks cannot handle them.

Summary: We have been going to Lake Leelanau since I was a little girl, so as I am now middle aged, the location is clearly a family favorite. This is the second time we’ve stayed at West Winds and the set up works amazingly well for our family now that we’re all grown up and wanting to rent our own spaces. The cottage is small but clean and well equipped, and you absolutely cannot beat the view. The water is eggy/hard/well, it’s wildly damp so you’ll need the clothesline out back if you have any hope of a towel or suit drying, and you’ll want bug spray, but that’s just lake life living, baby! My one and only minor gripe is that we had booked more than a year out and I had asked via email on 2-3 occasions if we could get permission to pay extra and bring our 6yr old 12lb shih tzu dog. It would be one thing if we simply received a response saying no, but the 2-3 inquiries over the course of more than a year emails were never answered or acknowledged at all. Obviously we took at as a hard no…but then when we arrived there were three other cottages in the strip that had dogs, and I t was a bummer. I still respect the decision if it’s a hard no for them in their cottages, but at least say that. Or perhaps have a more clearly defined guideline for the resort as a whole. We’ll still be back regardless, it just left a weird taste in my mouth.
