Positive: I have been there before the location is ok near the centre and is large and on a fair bit of land but lake is more of a pond and has a swimming pool

Negative: It can be dark and dingy in places and still has 70s en-suites coffee rather than avocado. Staff not always helpful they tried to give me a rack rate room rather than the room i booked on Booking until I insisted. Breakfast I was one of two people there and largely ignored and staff not helpful and when I went swimming they tried to stop me going in because they had not got round to cleaning it it was nearly 10.00 am. This is not uncommon with previous experiences there. So, ok but could be better.

Positive: It was clean and helpful staff. Location is good

Negative: No lift, we had to take stairs. Toilet had no shataf so it was not convenient for me. Taps were leaking.

Positive: Lake View Resort Hotel is in an acceptable location and within acceptable reach of the city. For Ugandans the breakfast was a feast, but being a stupid mzungu I had to ask for pancakes or anything not savoury, and my wife had to ask for a boiled egg — and then it took a looooong time.

Negative: In 2018 my wife and I were at ‘LVR’ — and paid 80$/night for an ‘Executive’ room! Now, inflation and — more likely — a change of management meant we had to pay almost 90$/night for a normal (‘Deluxe’) room. In 2018 not only was the staff very lovely (as all staff here usually is) and everything was working, including the showers. Now the staff was still very lovely (as all staff here usually is!), but the water that came out of the shower was not only cold but only a trickle of water. Even after pointing out this deficit, it basically stayed the same till the next evening. The excuse was that there had been power blackouts — but curiously, the club across the street could produce quite a noise. Also, in the past the restaurant in the evening serving an acceptable dinner. Now, however, it was barely palatable. In summary, if we had had an ‘Executive’ room again, we would have paid something like twice as much but would have gotten less than half of what we got in 2018.

Summary: No longer what it used to be, sadly going downhill.
