3 Bedroom Cottage in McHenry

Renovated Southern facing cottage on the edge of Deep Creek Lake in the perfect location. Want to cruise the lake? Hop on your boat docked only steps away and you are there without crossing a road! Maybe hit up Honihoni bar by boat or drive over to Swallow Falls State Park for a hike or Wisp ski resort for a slide. Hungry? New central kitchen with granite counter tops and everything you need to wow your guests with that Walleye you just pulled out of the lake! The dining (board game) room is attached to the kitchen to wine and dine guests all week. Finish out the day with a fire in the livingroom. The Master bedroom is equipped with its own private bathroom jet tub and balcony overlooking the lake shore and main deck. This is not the biggest house you could rent at Deep Creek and maybe that is the best part. It is also not the most remote place on dcl, but it is close to everything. Reconnect with friends and family and recharge those happiness batteries!
SKIING / SNOWBOARDING / TUBING / Wisp Resort is very busy on weekends so please plan ahead and or consider visiting the resort midweek to avoid busy lifts. Checkout wispresort.com for full report. There are NO lift lines at all on weekdays.
Docks will typically be installed in the lake from late April until mid October. Dock slip not included for long term overnight boat docking and may be rented separately for $50 per day. Swimming, fishing, and short term drop off/pick up from the dock slip are included. The dock is not equipped with a ladder.
Nothing like a hot hardwood fire after a cold day on the slopes. The fireplace is equipped with a flue and can be opened by moving the lever at the top of the firebox fully right to allow smoke to flow up the chimney. This is typically left open anyhow. Wood is available for $6 bundle at self serve honor system shacks around the lake. Closest shack being just accross the bridge southbound on the lake side of road.
Not equipped with a grill (because of BEARS on the deck hahaa! Not kidding!) or fire pit (because of scorch marks on the deck lol:)) Feel free to bring your own grill, but please keep it clean and safe:))
No cable tv but equipped with Roku internet streaming devices. This is a conscious decision to try to lower my kids bad tv habit and play more board games, but it is not really working! Hahaa. Just log into your own streaming service on the Roku such as Netflix or Hulu OR you may bring along your own device and plug into the HDMI extension cord on the mantle. Please do not unplug any wiring from the tv. Use the provided extention cord. See pics for more on this. If you bring your own device then look for the HDMI extention plug on the mantle to plug into and finally set the TV to HDMI 2.
The house, sheets, and towels are professionally cleaned and disinfected, there is an installed virus rated furnace filter on the heating/ac, and no contact check in. Many homes on Deep Creek do not have AC! The water is serviced by a well and disinfected with a whole house UV light then plumbed through a fridge filter for drinking.

Summary: We came for our once per year family boating long weekend to a new location..Deep Creek was a hit with all of us, the house location was ideal and we thoroughly enjoyed seeing the lake from the house and accessing the boat easily.,we ate out and cooked in the wonderful kitchen., great house and location!

Summary: This home is beautiful and honestly one of the best homes I have ever rented. You really don't need to bring any kitchen supplies because they have it all - peeler, mixer, bowls, grater, etc. The location was great, however, you do hear a bit of traffic noise. The upstairs bedroom (or master) had a good mattress and a nice bathroom. Two things I would do is to add curtains to the windows because the green and red lights from the bridge come right in and add a carpet runner on the stairs. The stairs are a little steep and a bit slippery. I slipped and feel down part of the stairs while I was there. Got a bit bruised up but it could have been much worse and I worry for older people. Just be careful and use the railing. The 2nd and 3rd bedrooms are well-maintained but are a little tight. Lastly, be aware that there is a security camera outside on the deck. I don't blame the owners at all for having a camera (if I had a beautiful home like theirs, I would have one too), however, I found out while we were there that they actually watch the feed. In my opinion, and it's just my opinion, the camera feed should only be watched if there is an issue or complaint. Neither of which occurred with my rental. Except for used sheets and towels, we left the place as nice as we found it. I even brought a little vacuum from home to help with clean-up.

Summary: Luke's house was great to stay at. It was well furnished and had everything we needed. The best aspect is the location; it's ~10 minutes to almost all of the activities around Deep Creek, and it has a boat dock if you want to rent a watercraft while you're there. Would definitely recommend it for a family getaway!
