Nestled on nearly 2900 mountain acres with private access to Lake Moomaw and surrounded by the George Washington National Forest, Big Lick Retreat is the perfect outdoor getaway! LakewView Lodge at Big Lick Retreat offers outstanding views of Lake Moomaw.

Enjoy exclusive private access to Lake Moomaw for canoeing, kayaking, swimming, fishing, water skiing and boating.
Lake Moomaw’s 2530 acres are home to an amazing variety of game fish species. Largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, stocked trout (brown, rainbow, and brook), crappie, bluegill, pickerel, channel catfish, and yellow perch all reside in Lake Moomaw. Surrounded by the Gathright Wildlife Management Area, its 43 miles of shoreline are undeveloped. Several excellent boat ramps are available.
The Bolar Flat Marina is nearby and is open year-round (fee applies). Boats must be less than 26 feet long. If you bring a boat, it can be kept overnight at Big Lick Retreat’s private dock. Gas, limited groceries and camping items, boat and boat slip rentals, ice, bait, fishing tackle, trailer parking and storage, and battery charging are available at the Bolar Flat camp store and marina.
Enjoy over 40 miles of private trailways for hiking, mountain biking, snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, and horseback riding. Surrounded by national forest land – you will enjoy your own private wilderness! In order to preserve the natural qualities of Big Lick Retreat, motorized vehicles are not permitted on trails.
Wildlife abounds! Big Lick Retreat is the perfect location to observe turkey, white-tailed deer, bald eagles, black bears, and much more.
Also on the property you’ll find a large private pond, stocked with bass and sunfish.

Summary: Every Memorial Day we stay at Big Lick and every year we love it. Great property, great hosts and the rest and relaxation we always love. The houses on property are well kept and the owners are kind and responsive always.

Summary: For the benefit of anyone looking to stay here make sure you plan on the gas grill being broken, the screen door being broken and the door being left inside leaning against the wall the handle on the shower faucet was broken, the wiring going to the blower on the fireplace is frayed and dangerous no insulation on the wires and left there where children could take and try to plug it in, there was dog hair all over the bed as a matter of fact I picked up my power supply for the computer and the velcro from the power supply had gobs of dog hair stuck to it look like tumbleweed then after we get there we find out we can't use any of the property or the pond which we had purchased out of state fishing license for we were told it was because it was hunting season so we thought we would stay on the roads only and the hunters literally screamed at us from the woods and then we got a notice from the property owner that we were in trouble because we had used the roads. And on top of all of this the couch recliner on the one side was broken another recliner chair was also broken and non-functional without a lot of effort. We spent a lot per night it would have been a great place to stay if it were about half the price but at the price we paid not so much. Just thought I'd try to help those who would look and see all the five star reviews and let you know it's not as nice as what we had expected.
