Positive: The cottage was nice with traditional feel. It has cooking utensils, microwave, a small grill, heated carpet for dining, fridge and a tv. The main building (just right across the cottage) has drying room for your gear, washing machine and a dryer (500 yen each) and bath area (we didnt use the bath area though) The beds were on top of a tatami and were comfortable. The location is perfect as it is very close to the free shuttles to resorts like goryu, happo one, tsugaike and iwatake. The host was nice and accomodating with your needs as well.

Negative: The unit located at echoland and it used to have a convenience store nearby but it was closed as per early 2025. So the closes supermarket (big hakuba) or convenience store (lawson) both around 2km away. Its walkable but it gets pretty dark on winter night after 5pm and there was no pedestrian path, so its a shared road with cars. Taxi trip will cost 1200-1500 yen one way to big hakuba. But the problem would be in getting one, as it gets really busy. One time We had to wait for 30 mins with no taxi picking up the order so we decided to walk home with all the groceries.

Negative: Breakfast wasn’t available. No easy access to the washing machine room, it was always locked & no staff were available on site.

Summary: Good location. Need to improve access to amenities and breakfast available.
