Welcome to Lake Petenwell in Necedah, WI - a natural wonderland! Enjoy this beautiful home that is big enough to entertain your friends and family. Nature, wildlife, sunrises and sunsets await with nice big open deck and tons of windows to see out to the lake. Catch the big fish or bring your own watercraft as this lake is perfect for pontooning, sailing, jet skiing or pleasure boating. As the second largest lake in Wisconsin you'll have access to 23,000 acres of water as well as the Wisconsin River. You'll never get bored exploring!
Off the water, there is plenty in the area to keep you busy as well. Enjoy hiking trails, explore Buckhorn State Park and the Necedah National Wildlife Refuge, check out one of the 10 nearby golf courses or take a short drive to the south to Castle Rock Lake or Wisconsin Dells.
For safety reasons, Fireplace use is prohibited.

Summary: The rental house was spacious, outdoorsy, right on the water and was perfect for an ice fishing weekend. We will definitely be returning!

Summary: Our group tries to come up to the lake once a year for a long weekend to go Ice fishing. The weather threw us a curveball but we were able to make the best of it. As far the house as advertised were were able able to fit our whole group in the house with the porch serving as a perfect staging area. There are very strict parking instructions that forced us to be creative. For a home that sleeps 14 it was a struggle to get all of our vehicles parked (this was a frustration). For ice fishing we had access to the lake and only 500 yard walk to some nice area on the lake. However, the shore line was treacherous scaling down the rocks to get onto the lake. We went out and purchased 2x12 planks to get our sleds across the rocks. Beware there is a drain pipe from the property that discharges under the pier. this causes open water during the ice season. Overall beautiful property. It helped us achieve our mission of getting in our annual ice fishing trip and everyone enjoyed themselves. Just some details that I wish I had prior to booking.

Summary: Overall the house was very nice. Plenty of room. However, the front porch and screened in porch were unable to enjoy. Dirty and full of cobwebs. The gas grill was filthy and it started a grease fire. The grease pan was overflowing with grease. There were hundreds of wasps in the back yard and Hundreds of biting flies so we couldn't enjoy the yard. My daughter got bite by wasps 5 times and her dog several bites and both required medical attention . The septic system in the front yard had an unpleasant odor. The dock was unstable and a few of us tripped several times.

Summary: Pros: very responsive management (Turnkey), nice location, flat terrain backyard, dock, sandy bottom to lakefront, large lake, large windows with beautiful views. Cons: property poorly kept, safety issues with (a) deck in disrepair with loose boards sticking up (needs new staining too) and (b) area carpet with loose corners curled up causing tripping hazards, leaking upstairs toilet, no sink garbage disposal, main floor is multilevel (3 levels, difficult for elderly), no recycling bin despite departure instructions to do so, lawn/yard in tough shape full of weeds and anthills, bunk beds in same room as 1st floor queen bed (makes it difficult to host different people/genders), dock lift stored in backyard taking up space and unsightly, limited parking (4-5 cars max), wood exterior of house in disrepair, no nearby grocery store within 25min, bring your own paper towels, thermostat not adjustable (must call management, but they are very responsive), floor needs cleaning under furniture.

Summary: The home was more than we could have asked for. Very well stocked. Large rooms for all to stay comfortably! Only issue was not getting the air conditioning on the second floor. Not sure if it just doesn’t have any or ducts weren’t open! Our stay was definitively a great time though!
