Positive: A very pretty Chateaux situated very nearby to many lovely historic sites. We were welcomed by Christophe and offered a drink we’ve probably been charged for it. . He also put an exercise bike in the pool for me and took off the pool cover. Valerie was very helpful telling us places to visit. We couldn’t find any towels in our room but this was rectified quickly.
Negative: We were both very disappointed with the breakfast on offer. We were paying nearly £200 per night and there were two pastries and a baguette. Four portions of butter and tiny jars of jam. Must have cost 5 euros max to put together. Breakfast was served in a beautiful room but on hard tall stools intended I expect so people do not linger. Well one wouldn’t anyway with so little to eat. At one point we heard a whisking sound from the kitchen and got excited for maybe an omelette. Sadly no. No water or ice on offer at any point despite very high temps outside. Also advertised with spa facilities. These were in a room to the side of the courtyard, there was a hot tub not even switched on, and a cold sauna! These were not offered or mentioned to us in any way, so a little disappointed. The couple were as polite as they needed to be but didn’t really want to engage in too much conversation. We then asked to be booked in to a local wine tasting session. We arrived to an empty house, the young man turned up, it was all very awkward as he spoke very little English, no vineyard no tour, no knowledge or information, no fresh glasses, all very casual, just basically a way of getting us to buy his wine. Obviously a locals agreement. We were not impressed. So if you are going to charge high prices, at least provide a reasonable breakfast, some fruit, yogurt, eggs! We were the only ones staying with you and you had the audacity to charge us an extra 100 euros to move nights, when it did not make any extra work for you at all! Not very charitable.
Summary: Not as expected

Positive: Perfect location to get away from it all and our two Labradors loved the open spaces to run around in. Valerie and Christoph were very welcoming and made excellent breakfasts to help start our day. The accommodation was excellent, very clean and with a neat little kitchenette which was perfect for cooking up snacks and simple evening meals. The local shop (10 minute walk) was excellent for picking up all essentials.
Negative: The Wi-Fi coverage didn't extend from the main house to our room, partly due to the thick walls of the building. The hot water boiler was sufficient for a one-person shower, so the second person who used it had to wait for the water to reheat. But as we were on holiday, we had time on our hands so not an issue overall.
Summary: Would highly recommend for a getaway break in the French countryside.
